I get an error 0x887A0005 while playing Apex Legends.
While playing Apex Legends, an engine error occurred and the game was forced to close.
The error occurs about 2-3 hours after launch. If you restart Apex, you can connect to the match again. (So I think this is a little different from the existing problem)
【error message】
commandline: "D:\ProgramFileX64\EA Games\Apex\r5apex_dx12.exe" -ranLauncher -game R2 title: Fatal Error - Engine Error error: [DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED] : 0x887A0005 - DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED The video card has been physically removed from the system, or a driver upgrade for the video card has occurred. The application should destroy and recreate the device.
You should check to make sure your GPU's drivers is fully updated. (If it is fully updated, I would try reinstalling the drivers).
It might be worth checking the GPU's connections to your PC's Motherboard to make sure its all plugged in correctly, (as well as making sure its not damaged or badly bent in any way). You should also check to make sure the fans on your GPU is still working as well as removing any dust you find.
Its also possible that the problem is caused by an issue with your PC's power supply, part of the PC's hardware had gone bad, (due to wear and tear), conflicts between the GPU and other system drivers, and/or from overclocking your GPU.
Besides checking for an update for your GPU, (I would also update Windows if it has any updates), you could check to see if your GPU is overheating, check your power supply, disable overclocking, (if its enabled), and run diagnostics on your PC's hardware.
You could also try repairing the system's files, and see if that helps resolve the issue.
- Type, "DISM /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth" (without the quotes), and wait for it to finish.
Note: DISM stands for "Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool". It often repairs Microsoft related files, such as issues with Window apps. Some problems with the next file checker can only be fixed after running this one first.
- Now type, "sfc /scannow" (without the quotes), and wait for it to finish.
Note: sfc stands for "System File Checker". This one will repair system files, (such as important Windows drivers).
- Lastly, restart your PC.
Note: Considering that you could play the game for 2-3 hours before having an issue with the GPU, it might be an overheating issue with the GPU, (possibly a fan had stopped working, there's a build up of dust, or maybe even a hardware issue), so you should start with checking to see if the GPU is overheating, and making sure its fully plugged in and is not damaged or badly bent.
