Thank you for explaining clearly. Now that I have a better comprehension of the “why” it’s clear to me that debating the semantics of what is and isn’t “cross progression” and “account merging” only serves to reinforce the idea and prove that EA/Respawn is deliberately choosing to over complicate this.
From the consumer perspective it truly makes no difference “how” it occurs we just want our stuff. I have no insight into the technical dealings that are required to make this a possibility however certain situations have already shown that it’s possible in some way. (Players loosing all items and recovering them)
”I know this is a frustrating situation (understatement) but there is no way of merging your two Apex progresses from two accounts via cross progression without first losing a lot of your progress on one of these”
Then as a workaround couldn’t “cross progression” for those that have two EA accounts simply be that EA takes note of the items on the console account, deletes the account and then simply unlocks all of the items that they previously owned on said console account on their PC account. Is it literally not that simple? Again I have no insight into the technical demands however if you can remove items that have been unlocked through bugs/glitches then it should be equally possible to unlock locked items from the backend.
However statements like this: (EA in response to players losing their items when unlinking and relinking their console account) “We will not return anything that can be unlocked through playing the game” inspire little confidence and allude to the business mentality of EA doing everything they can to get you to spend money and play the game except for what the actual people playing the game want.
My point is that there has to be at least more than one way to do this and EA shrugging their shoulders and going “oops sorry sucks to suck” is lazy, intentionally disingenuous, deceptive and morally bankrupt.
But that’s life I guess. 👍
