Inputs not registering on Apex main screen

After booting Apex through the EA app the main screen loads as normal, but once there no inputs (keyboard or controller) work. I can't get past the "click to continue" screen. Both my mouse and controller don't show a cursor. I can't even close the game, i'm forced to kill it through task manager. I've uninstalled and reinstalled EA app and apex. I've cleared temp files, cleared EA cache, and repaired the game files. Still no luck. Apex works fine with both sets of inputs when launching through Steam. Anyone else have this issue and knows how to fix it. I assume it's an EA file issue but not sure. Also, there is no error message, it's just a "frozen" screen
