Lag Issues (S10)(PS4)

I held back a while on this because I didn't know if it was just me or if anyone else was going through this problem.

As of just a few days ago, my Apex has randomly dropped from really good and playable to a bunch of lag every few seconds. I play on the Playstation 4.

I can't select my character, in the dropship, it begins to jitter and not move, flying as jumpmaster I'm stuck in one place, the gameplay is horrible to the point I can't move or pick up anything. One moment I am up, the next I'm on the ground, knocked. Sometimes if it's a good match I end up getting an error.

At first, I assumed it might be my new router that I got messing with the game.

But everything works fine (i.e. streaming games from PS Now, Youtube, Netflix, Overwatch, etc. Also, my laptop works wonders with the connection.

I've disconnected many of the electronics to see if that would help but nothing. Still the same results.)  so now I'm down to believing that maybe it's just Apex being Apex.

I've followed many of the troubleshooting guides, etc, etc.

Nothing works.

Ping is still high and changing to 500+ every few seconds, no packet loss, however..

So I'm wondering...is anyone else going through this problem?

    Hi there, @LunaMoonas.

Thanks for reaching out to us about this. We should go through some troubleshooting to see if we can find any issues that would be causing the lag. Are you playing on a wired or wireless connection? Also, Has it been a while since you power cycled your equipment? If so, try doing it now with these steps: unplug your modem, router and console. After 2 minutes plug in the modem and router. Let them come back online completely. Then plug in your console and start it up. Let me know if that helps or not.

@EA_Aljo To answer the first question, I play on a wireless connection. I don't have access to an ethernet cable. So it's completely out of the question. I've reset the modem and my Playstation several times, let them rest and everything. Same results.

My brother has a better connection in his room so I attempted to move the console into his room. I wanted to see if maybe there would be a difference. But the same results happened no matter how close or how far the system was. Nothing really has worked, unfortunately.

Thanks for those details. One of the biggest reasons for disconnects and lag is using a wireless connection. I can't stress enough how much better using a wire normally is. If your router is within reach of a wire, I highly recommend getting on. I've stretched ethernet cords 30 feet just to avoid playing on wireless. Another option, but more expensive, is using a powerline adaptor.

I'd like you to check the network settings screen on your console. Let me know what it says for the NAT type.

@EA_Aljo Getting one might be a little hard only because it's upstairs. The room I'm in however is almost directly above where the modem is. And my brother's room is even further but his connection is really good. I could attempt to get one but I don't know how I'd be able to stretch it from the distance.

My NAT Type is Type 2.

    @LunaMoonas

NAT type 2 is fine so no issues there. Do you happen to be on the same wireless channel as your brother? To check that, load into your router and check the wireless channels for your consoles. If you're both on the same channel, change it for one of you. Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

@EA_Aljo So I found out the issue was my system in general. Our WiFi got updated to the 5G band or something technical, and I had the first-gen, so my system wasn't running it properly. I got a slim and it's worked and stopped the issues ever since! Yay! ... Now the next problem at hand is I keep getting Code:Wheel for some reason? Any thoughts?

Great! Glad to hear it. I still would recommend you switch to a wired connection if possible. It's far more stable than wireless. Try using alternate DNS settings with the instructions here. If you don't see a difference, try the Google DNS servers. Those are: Primary alt number 8.8.8.8 - Secondary alt number 8.8.4.4. Let me know what happens.
