A lot of focus in the past has been on their anti-cheat programs, but simply removing that would have frustrating consequences across the player base.
The main problem for the devs is Apex was kind of a side project from the Titanfall franchise, with cobbled together modules on top of the source engine. I expect they weren't expecting it to blow up as much as it did, and now with millions of active users there's simply much more strain on the servers, and the build itself. I personally think they need to delay a new season while they stabilize/expand their server base and maybe do some specific bug fixing of the code. Unfortunately the f2p business model means that a steady stream of new content takes priority, and I don't doubt that's where the funding is directed.

Very insightful, i for one wouldn’t mind a delayed season if it meant fixing the spaghetti source code. Of course like you pointed out, that is out of the question for EA.
