Linux players getting banned
Edit: Looks like they fixed the issue causing the bans. Edit 2: EA is reversing bans and sending out emails letting you know. Yay! Hello, I believe myself and a few others got banned for just playi...
arch linux, mangohud with proton experimental on steam.
no notifications / no email / no justification - just get kicked after trying to join any game mode
couple thousand hours, badges, skins and heirlooms down the drain... pls fix.
As a follow-up to my original comment, I finally got an automated email this morning in response to my ban dispute. It states that my account is banned for "cheating", as can be seen below:
I would hope this goes without saying, but I haven't even used so much as a macro, let alone violating any of the points mentioned here.
If that was something I was interested in, I'd just spin up a Windows VM and go ragehack on a burner account. Not on my personal PC, and certainly not on my main account (with thousands of hours, and hundreds of dollars of real money spent).
Here's my system information, for the sake of comparison:
Arch Linux (kernel 6.2.1-arch1-1), using Proton experimental through Steam (which also runs EAC), with MangoHud + obs-vkcapture installed from AUR.
Game launch options:
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 DXVK_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 LFX=1 %command% -dev -novid +fps_max 0 +cl_showpos 1 -preload
Nothing out of the ordinary, and nothing that I can imagine would trip up EAC.
I have added to the GitHub issue discussion, but am lost on how to proceed from here. It doesn't seem like I have any way to speak with a real human who actually knows what I'm talking about. Immensely frustrating experience.
I had this same thing happen to me in mid-2022 I play on Arch Linux and have been playing Apex fine for a while on Linux then I got the ban notification while playing with my friends, and after appealing the ban multiple times I get hit with an automated message saying they've taken the correct action.
If I wanted to cheat on Apex I would've used an alt account on a Windows machine, not the account I've spent a thousand hours and hundreds of dollars on.
