Player Bug November 2021
Okay, this is getting extremely frustrating. Just spent $40 on apex packs because I really enjoy this game and having more cosmetics makes it more enjoyable to me. I then went to load into a game to use some of the new items I just received, only to see that I couldn't even play the game! I've seen some threads about this bug that causes your username in the lobby of apex to simply say "player" and not show your level. It prevents you from clicking on the diamonds to invite friends to your lobby, and you are unable to join different lobbies or load into any matches. Firing range, duos, trios, arenas, ranked, doesn't matter, it won't work. all of the responses from devs have been "oh try these really basic connectivity troubleshoots and see if they help". By the time the people who have written these threads see these responses, the bug has resolved itself. The bug typically does not last long, which probably is why this has remained a bug for probably close to a year now, at least that's when I first encountered it. every time it happens I restart my game, my ps4, and my router multiple times, but it always persists, and then after half an hour to a couple of hours it's just fixed. The issue seems to happen completely randomly and has no direct correlation to PSN or EA servers, as the wifi is still working just fine for me on my phone, my ps4, my friends playing on their ps4's, and even apex on my PC. So the issue is definitely a bug rather than simply a connection issue. I probably wouldn't be having this issue if EA were to actually add cross-save so the hundreds of dollars I've spent on ps4 don't just get wasted by me switching to PC.
Out of all the times this issue has occurred for me, restarting my wifi is the only thing that sometimes works, the keyword is sometimes, and while yes it does work once in a while, I also believe there is a good chance that the restarting of the wifi just happened to take place right around the time that the bug resolved itself, making it seem as though it was the solution. It's pretty crazy to me that this has not been addressed in some capacity since I have seen and heard of it happening to people on multiple different platforms over a very long period of time. While it is not the worst bug to occur, it can be extremely frustrating to join up with some friends, play a game, and not be able to play anymore due to a bug that is entirely out of your control. I really hope EA and Respawn, being the ridiculously large company that they are can manage to find a fix for this issue that is occurring in a game that I'm sure makes them more money than they know what to do with.
