Re: AMD Server timeout & crash fix (fx series)

step 1 - open apex legends

step 2 - open windows services by searching "services" using the windows home button

step 3 - stop windows audio endpoint builder (its near the bottom)

step 4 - start windows audio (its right above audio endpoint builder)

I found an easier workaround, instead of doing that long irritating thing with services. We're better off going to the games settings and turn off the microphone completely but keeping the voice chat enabled so we can hear other players.

    Here's what you do:

    1. Go to C:\Users\*yournamehere*\Saved Games\Respawn\Apex\local

    2. Open settings.cfg

    3. Go to the bottom of that document and make sure you have as follows

    sv_voiceenable "1"
    TalkIsStream "0"
    voice_forcemicrecord "0"
    voice_mixer_boost "0"
    voice_mixer_mute "0"
    voice_mixer_volume "1.0"
    voice_modenable "0"
    voice_scale "0"
    voice_vox "0"

    4. Save the file and close it.

    5. Right-click the same file and go to properties. Tick "Read-only" in the pop-up window and apply the changes.

This only helps with disconnects and game freezes. The game will crash from time to time, but not as common as it occurs without doing the workaround. I can play around 7 games without crashing me mid-game.

if you think that the process is long and irritating then i would suggest creating a bat file using the following

    sc stop Audiosrv

    sc stop AudioEndpointBuilder

    sc start AudioEndpointBuilder

    sc start Audiosrv

and setting it to run as administrator then just click the bat file when you start the game. The process you mentioned will work but you will no longer be able to adjust in game settings.

@BogutUndersaw @xMcnugget69 My alternative does not seem to work anymore and I have no idea why. Today I tried to play a game and out of 6 games I haven't had a single normal game. The game freezes in the menu like crazy for some odd reason. The best option here really is to create that *.bat file or disable 2 cores on FX series cpu. The game will not freeze/disconnect, but still will be crashing with bad_memory_module. I am giving up on this game until it is fixed. This is now how the game should be played. I liked the game to even consider purchasing Ryzen cpu as my other friend did, but that is still to come.

    @IIIAmerIII

This is still under investigation by the team and they are committed to making stability improvements going into Season 2.

I don't see any mention of it in the patch notes, sadly. Ah well, maybe season 3...

  • I am also currently looking to see if this was fixed. My brother is using my old FX-6300 and he crashes almost every second game if we can even get a game going.

If this is not fixed I have asked him to try the switch of 2 cores method, but I may just give up Apex until its fixed. Its ridiculous how they just don't say anything to anyone , but when it comes to the intel users and their Core I series 7000/8000/9000 issue, they jump at helping them even as far as getting a dev into the forums to diagnose issues directly for them.

If I had to guess, probably because the intel users have more $$$ to throw at them via micro transactions than someone using a 9 year old CPU, but that's just my 2 cents.
