Re: How do I fix an invalid EA account?

@YLGroper

Account owners should know the information they used to create the account. If you used some bogus information just to play a demo, that's your choice and not our fault. We aren't going to give out private account details either. I get you think our support is useless, but it would be a huge security flaw if we just gave out people's personal information when they asked for it without verifying they are the account owner. Since we don't have access to your Sony account, we can't verify that information so we can't use that as a means of proving ownership. I'm very sorry. I know this is incredibly frustrating, but account security is something we're very serious about. We'll do all we can to get account owners access, but that is going to require they prove they legitimately own the account.

  • @EA_Aljo but I have this account, and can verify its information. If I had set up an account 15 years, for some forgotten game on some lost concole, EA support should facilitate sorting out the error. Or the game that I was playing up until yesterday should not have allowed the auto login to a lost account with an active psn to begin with. You guys could assist here, you just dont. Activity on the lost account alone should tell the story. The fact that my PSN account was used with this lost account until yesterday, is evident. Its not reasonable to assume someone can verify an account created at an unknown time without being allowed to know what the account is. It doesnt make any sense. I know who I am. I do not know what the account is, to know what period of my life it was created in, to provide an address, phone, or credit card information for verification.

    EA shows a list of linked accounts (psn, xbox wtc). All i need is playstation to list whatever account is linked to EA. That information should be kept somewhere. This is a ridiculous issue that could be resolved in 5 minutes if my own email address wasn't being kept from me due to bad service policies.

    You absolutely have to prove you own the EA account. I'm sorry, but there's no way around it. If we didn't have strict security policies, anyone could come to us with a gamertag or PSN ID, claim they own it and just gain access. That's not something we're going to allow. We don't have access to Sony's systems so we can't verify the PSN ID you're claiming to be yours is actually yours. We also aren't going to give out email addresses to anyone asking for them. That would only facilitate account theft.

  • I've been waiting for the better part of 4 hours for someone at EA Support to give me a call like they say they will.

    Estimated wait time was 4 minutes, not 4 hours. I'm doing my best to be patient, but APPARENTLY i can't just do live chat.

  • @EA_Aljo That isnt the problem. The problem is that im being required to verify address, phone, and credit card information from an unknown period of my life. EA doesnt seem to understand that people move, and get new phone and banking information.

    And what you can see, is that the same email used for this account, is the same account used for the same playstation. You can see that the same psn link, was made invalid yesterday. You can see me using the same email, linked to the same psn, used for this account, requesting assistance. What is the possibility; someone using the same psn, linked to an account for unknown years, created a support account with the same email and same user name, to defraud an unknown account that has been linked to his playstation for years, coincidentally the day after the account became invalid?
  • @EA_Aljo The psn account is set up with the same email and username as this account looking for assistance. Same user, same account, linked to an unknown ea account for years. And the only issue is that I do not know what email was used for the unknown to verify it. I dont see a scenario where it wouldnt be my account. Why would I set up an account, link it to my psn, and use it for years across platforms and games, as the sole user, if it wasnt mine.

    I know it's difficult to recall all those details from a long time ago. I'd have a hard time tracking my own down. This just isn't something we can bend on though. We also can't see any of your PSN details. All we can see is if you have a PSN ID linked to an EA account. We can't see any changes that are made on Sony's side. It's not that I don't believe you are who you say you are. However, we also can't just take someone's word for it. You'd be surprised at the lengths people go to try to take over accounts. Which is why we are as strict as we are. Hopefully, someday we'll have an easier process, but for now, if you can't recall the information we need to verify ownership, we won't be able to recover the account.

    Hello, @ArktikAlice

    Live chat should be working. Try using a Chrome browser in incognito mode. You also can contact support by requesting a phone call back. They can also be messaged through Twitter (@EAHelp) or Facebook.

  • I have entered my phone number and been waiting for literally hours at this point.
    I'm in Chrome, not incognito, but I've also tried microsoft Edge and no live chat option.

  • Where is the live chat button? Used to be at the top, isn't there in chrome, incognito or otherwise.

    Do you have another EA account you can try instead? It's possible chat will show up there.

  • No, I only have the one account, and given that this is the account that I'm having the problem with in Apex, I would imagine it's the one I should be contacting the support staff with.

  • @EA_Aljo Again, the issue isnt tacking down adddresses. But If ive lived at 15 addresses in 20 years, how am I meant to verify the address for when I set up an account, of you will not tell me when the account was set up.

    Apex hasn't been played on the account you're posting with so it appears you have 2 different accounts.

    @YLGroper

    I'm not sure if they let you list off a bunch of addresses, but you should be able to submit at least one with each case. Until you provide enough accurate answers, we won't be able to recover the account.

  • I have checked all of my e-mail addresses to make sure that there are no other EA accounts tied to them and the only account I have is tied to this e-mail address, and I can't check which e-mail is tied to my Playstation account, or I just don't know how.

    This account doesn't have my Playstation account linked to it, apparently, despite having literally the same exact e-mail address, and I have no idea what other EA account my PS4 account could be linked to because ALL OF MY OTHER E-MAIL ADDRESSES DO NOT HAVE EA ACCOUNTS.

    So the only option I can think of is that I never linked Apex to an EA account, which doesn't make any sense, or my linked account got changed to a different account, and I don't know how.

    @ArktikAlice

    It's impossible to play without an EA account so you have one linked to an email somewhere. Unfortunately, we can't help with that through Answers HQ. You'll need to contact a live support advisor here for assistance.
