The problem is that when I try to connect my EA account to my Steam account, it tells me that this account is currently linked to a Steam account. But on the EA website itself, my profile does not say that the account is linked to Steam, and it is impossible to unlink it.

It sounds like the error may be telling you that this EA account was already linked to another Steam account previously.
You're only able to link a single Steam account to each EA account over its lifetime, so even if you've unlinked one Steam account, you would not be able to link a different one to this same EA account.
You would be able to re-link the Steam account that was here previously, or if you're trying to use a different Steam account, you'll need to link it to an EA account that has never had a different Steam profile connected.
The thing is that the EA account was linked to the same Steam account, after which I unlinked it, and when I tried to link it again, it says that the EA account is already linked to Steam, but there are no links to Steam in the account settings.
