Turn OFF controller support?
Hey everyone! I need some help.
I'm have a physical disability that forces me to not be able to play games with a controller or traditional mouse+keyboard set up. I have managed to find a solution that is using a remapped controller in one hand, and an art tablet as a mouse in the other.
It has worked flawlessly in just about every other game, but I'm running into some major problems. I use a third party program (xpadder) to remap my controller all ot the left side, with keyboard buttons. this lets games basically think im using keyboard and mouse (which i sort of am) and I can play them just fine. I recently picked up Apex Legends and found that was not the case for this game. It seems that the game just automatically detects a controller is plugged in and just decides for you that that's what you will be using to play. There does not seem to be any option at all within the settings to tell the game to exclusively use keyboard and mouse input. ☹️
You might suggest that I just use Apex Legends pre-built controller remapping, AND my tablet. but the problem is the second you touch your controller apex briefly turns off mouse input, because it assumes you will be using the entire controller. So you basically cant aim or shoot as long as you are pushing any buttons on your controller at the same time... like moving.
I know a lot of people who actually use this set up, most have similar disabilities but others just find it more comfortable. Is there really no way to tell Apex Legends to stop trying to use my controller?
how do I get apex to do Mouse + Controller instead of Mouse + Keyboard?
from a disability accessibility standpoint this is pretty frustrating, especially when most other AAA FPS games let me use this set up, and have an option to choose which type of input I will be using. I honestly thought it was the standard until today. So hopefully in the future they will add some sort of toggle option.
THINGS I'VE TRIED:
I launch through Origins. I use the Advanced Launch options Command Line Argument "-nojoy" - that did not work
I tried launching Origins and Apex Legends through STEAM with its controller support turned off (and on but unmapped), and then with "-nojoy" in its command line argument - all to no avail
(DISCLAIMER: Please if you can just answer my question with a solution, and do not try to offer advice on other input devices or set ups I "should be using" or "should try". Thank you! )
