Unable to use the "Link Steam Account" option in Apex Legends

Hello, everyone,

I hope you are having a great day. I recently ran into an issue and I was wondering whether anyone else experienced the same thing too and if you have, what measures did you take to fix it. Yesterday, I found out that the game will be available on Steam early November and I wanted to link my Steam account through the Options menu as the title suggests. I had an old Steam account that I no longer used (that was previously linked to Apex) that I had to unlink first which went without a problem. That being said, If I click on the "Link Steam account" button again (so that I can be transferred to the appropriate page), it just opens a blank page (redirected to accounts.respawn.com). Things I have attempted so far in order to fix the problem:

  • Restarted the game and attempted to link the account a second time.
  • Ran Origin as administrator and made sure that it is updated to the latest version (seems to be Version 10.5.85.44831 - 765727 at the time of writing).
  • Ran Steam as administrator and made sure that it is updated to the latest version (Oct-23-2020 build)
  • Restarted the computer and router
  • Turned off firewall and antivirus temporarily
  • Cleared the cache, cookies and browsing history on all browsers
  • Made Internet Explorer, Edge and Chrome the default browsers, restarted the game after each change and clicked on the Link Steam Account option again, however, I am still transferred to a blank page on all three of them.
  • I do not have any VPN software installed on my system, so it is not possible that such software could interfere with the linking process.

Unfortunately, nothing worked, despite multiple attempts. I ran out of ideas, so any suggestions are welcome.

@SASUKEEE07 you got to download and install it on steam as well... Origin and Steam are 2 separate platforms so is it normal to make 2 separate downloads.... after u get it on steam, install it and when u open the game, should prompt out the option to link your EA account to the steam !
  • We seriously have to download 60+GB twice? My other Steam games don't require that. I downloaded once and can use on both platforms. Progress is saved between the two platforms. It's perfect.

Thank heavens I didn't have to do that with the Sims. I have so many DLCs, it would be a ridiculous space hog on my PC.
