Windowed fullscreen smooth, fullscreen lags alot
Pc:
Intel i9-10900k running at 4.7ghz (stable temps)
gpu: gigabyte auros rtx 3080 xtreme gaming OC. (Undervolted and overclocked, gives better temps and performance.)
32gb ddr4 ram at 3600mhz CL16
game is on an m.2 ssd
monitor: benq XL2546 @240hz
Can a dev or someone Else explain to me why borderless windowed feels like im playing true 240hz, with a super buttery smooth feeling, but when i run the game in fullscreen it feels like 60/75/100hz
its giving me terrible screen tearing, and really messes alot with my mouse input latency, to the point where it feels like my mouse polling rate is fluctuating between 1000hz and 125hz.
Tried multiple mice, same issue.
Tried Them all in different USB ports, same issue.
tried running the game with fullscreen optimizations disable, same issue.
tried reinstalling Windows and running pc on Stock settings, same issue.
tried capping fps with nvidia, rtss and the source engine fps limiter, dame issue.
tried all nvidia optimizations possible, even through profile inspector, same issue.
tried doing registry optimizations, same issue.
i dont know whats causing this, but windowed fullscreen feels so much smoother for the eyes, but given the bad (but consistent!) inputlatency that comes with any windowed mode, i prefer playing on fullscreen mode, even though mouse inputs fluctuate alot.
i have this recording which doesnt even show any gameplay, to ensure the game ran at a constant 240 fps. The clips are recorded with a 240fps camera, and slowed Down to 33% speed in premiere. Notice how the fullscreen windowed isnt as janky on the cursor, compared to fullscreen exclusive.

the funny thing is.. this is only visible in apex legends, which rund 240 fps pretty much everywhere, with a 0.1% low of 232fps.
call of duty running at 160-220(very fluctuating fps) with pretty much the same settings and optimizations still feels so much better than apex fullscreen. Its not true 240hz feeling, but it sure feels alot more responsive, and is far more Pleasing for the eyes, just like running apex in borderless fullscreen.
sorry for the Long post, but i have run out of ideas for this fix, as i’ve tried everything, and when i say everything i mean i spent the past 3 weeks trying to fix this.
this issue only became apparent in season 14. Just for reference
