Wired Controller disconnects all the time

Product: Apex Legends
Platform:Steam-PC
Please specify your platform model. PC
AMD or Nvidia Model Number NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti
Enter RAM memory size in GB 16
What is your gamertag/PSN ID/EA Account name? MatoruNSG
Please provide your squad mates' gamertag/PSN ID/EA Account name if possible.
Are you using any software with an overlay? No
Which Legend were you playing (if applicable)? Lifeline
Which Legends were your squad mates using (if applicable)?
Where did the issue occur? In a match
Which part of the map or menu were you in? If you don't remember the exact name, please describe the area or what you were trying to do in the menu. It happens everywhere, skydiving, mid-gunfights, no matter where I am and on which map.
What were you doing when the issue occurred? E.g. respawning a squad mate at a beacon, using an ability, a squad mate left the game. I was trying to play the game
Did your squad mates also experience the issue? I don't know
How many matches had you played in a row before the issue occurred? 0
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) 25.01.22 ~12:40 CET
How often does the bug occur? Occasionally (10% - 49%)
How severe is your issue? Major impacts to gameplay
What happens when the bug occurs? Apex Legends randomly disconnects my controller that is connected with a cable. The LED starts flashing yellow, then it turns off and the controller is not usable anymore until I plug it out and in again. Apex Legends is the only game that does this, this never happens with anything else. Until a few days ago this happened around once every couple of hours, but now it is getting frequent and sometimes it happens multiple times in a row so that as soon as I re-plug my controller in, it gets disconnected again, up to three times in a row. Since a few days ago this happens every couple of minutes whereas before it would only happen much more rarely.
What should be happening instead? The game should not disconnect my controller and should work normally without me having to reconnect my wired controller every few minutes.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Plug in a Dualshock 4 controller and try to play the game. It will then randomly disconnect for no reason. I'm using a SCUF Impact, which is identical to a Dualshock 4 from a software aspect.

This is a problem with Apex Legends and not my controller or cable because Steam or other games work perfectly fine for long sessions without disconnecting my controller.

Since the disconnects have become more frequent recently, they now happen mid gunfights as well, which I just can't understand.

    Hi @MatoruNSG

What happens if you start your PC in a Clean Boot before you launch Apex Legends? If there's anything else that could be causing the controller to disconnect that may help narrow it down.

You can find more info on how to set up a Clean Boot at the EA Help website. Let me know how that goes when you have the chance. Thanks!

  • @EA_Kent Hi, sorry for the late reply. I have now started my PC with a Clean Boot with the only Services not disabled (apart from Microsoft services) being my antivirus software (AVG Antivirus, AVG Firewall Service, avgbIDSAgent, AvgWscReporter) and Steam Client Service (I initially had this off but then Steam asked me to reinstall it when I would launch a game, so I turned it on again).
However my controller still gets disconnected every couple of hours.
