3D spotting is trash. Also for every method of spotting in game, there needs to be a viable, hard counter.
Being spotted on the minimap via simply firing your weapon is trash as well. That’s why we have headphones and surround sound. - EA_Atic3 years ago

How are feeling of the changes to spotting?

@EA_Aticnot good to be honest. The game already suffered before from to much spotting and you guys decided to add even more spotting to it. For me the mini map spotting which is equal to a permanent radar hack now kills it for me. There are absolutely zero counter measures to stay off the mini map. I mean if you want to keep the spotting then you need to give us players something to counter it all.
For example a mobile jammer which can be equipped as gadget. An enemy player who gets close by could get a jammend mini map for example.
Furthermore there is no cool down to 3d spotting. Earlier today I was in a chopper and spammed the Q Button like in BF3 times and basicly spotted 20 enemies non stop.
You certainly need to rework the mini map spotting, because that thing is a real fun killer for a lot of players. - UP_Hawxxeye3 years agoLegend@EA_Atic I would not know yet, it will take a while for people to get in the habit of using that button again after so many years.
But in return, I believe we should have less passive spotting via shots. I think the way BF1 handled the audio spot was best - CableTongue3 years agoSeasoned Traveler
I seem to be able to use traditional Battlefield-style 3D spotting on the new map (from Season 3) but not on any other maps? Is this intentional? It's not really an issue per se, but I'm just interested to know whether it's being rolled out over the entire game.

They might make a fully fledged BF game out of 2042 yet.
My personal Wishlist:
Server browser, Platoon support and optional All Chat
Edit: also Squad management and team switch
I wish we were getting all of that

Me too, that would make my day. - S3SSioN_SoL3 years agoSeasoned Ace@EA_Atic Honestly it's better than what we had. What was Squad only, is now a Team based ping which is a major improvement over Squad only. 2042 needs far more team based tools.

It's been a long time (late 2018) since DICE remove 3D Spot in Battlefield V. My habit have change and it will take time to get used to (or spamming Q more often)
My initial thought are
- It's great when you encounter fast vehicle like EBLC-Ram or air vehicle but for slow or non-run and gun vehicle like MBT, I think the old ping system is enough.
- It's make flanking harder as enemy see you for once and press Q then you will have a hard time to hide and wait till the icon to disappear.
- There's one situation where I saw enemy head pop out of cover so I press Q and fire a few shot to them. It help confirm that's enemy and make me aim at them easier due to having doritos on top of their head. I don't think that how it should be.
It's ok but I still think what we have before are already enough. (except a situation like the first point)
Now that 3D spotting is back, and make no mistake, this appears to be the same 3D spotting mechanic from BF1, I'm actually really enjoying it being in the game again!
It also shows how much 3D spotting is needed with battlefields advanced modern visuals which feature incredibly detailed backgrounds including vast swathes of dark green, almost black vegetation.
I'm back to spotting like a mad man again and it's really helping when in a tank.
I remember the head of Dice LA, David Sirland who when asked about 3D spotting being removed said it would never be removed because it was now a staple of the battlefield franchise.
And he knew a thing or two about battlefield balance.
Then V came out and David moved on (resigned) after too many disagreements within Dice over some decisions made with V and well here we are!
I bet he's sipping on a nice cup of tea right now.
