Their abilities have no place in a BF game. Grappling hooks, wall hacks, turrets, shields etc belong in Quake champions.
In fact come to think of it, BF has turned into Quake champions. There’s literally no difference apart from QC is free to play. The cheesy voice lines are the same, the battle pass is exactly the same, even the champions abilities are exactly the same.
BF is FUBAR. - ThePla7Maker4 years agoRising Adventurer
specialist were added purely for marketing making it more popular with younger players therefore more sales equals greed. they obviously dont care about the players, i mean why change a game that everyone loved, the reason we invested was beauae of the four the kits available. assault, enginner, sniper, support, now they changed it and we dont even have uniforms on each team no more,, which makes it very difficult to determine enemies in certain situations. the game is all over the place.
I for one enjoy the freedom the specialist bring to the game. When I play the older BF games the classes seem so restrictive.
- ThePla7Maker4 years agoRising Adventurer@CantGetRight that was excatly the point of it though, if you was a engineer your job was to repair things, now you dont know whos got what. as i said the only reason they changed it was to make it more appealing
@CantGetRighteach to thier own mate, if you enjoy it then more power to you, but the majority dont and is also part reason why 2042 is in the dire circumstance that it is.
the classes and its restrictions is what encourages squad and teamplay and is the basis for a Battlefield game. Each brings their own and gel to form a good squad each with their own gadgets etc and having that comradery of having to rely on each other. Also the feeling that you are just a soldier in a war is what helps make Battlefield, none of this semi-hero solo play style malarky.
My friends wont even touch 2042 because of the specialists (and other reasons but a big part is the specialists) I am the only one who plays it. In 2042 there is no feeling of needing a squadmate other than to spawn on them. They literally stripped any enthusiasm and necessity to play as a squad. The specialists are made for solo gameplay.
And the abilities are not needed, BF is not about wallhacks, crazy medical pew pew guns, auto turrets, wingsuits etc. Its just not BattlefieldDont get me wrong the game is fun for what it is, but its not BF fun, and I dont consider this a Battlefield game but in name only

Used to be two games to play for different play styles...
1. Call of Duty - run and gun, no recoil easy high kills, gimmicky crap. Jump, slide cancel hop skip nothing affects aim.
2. Battlefield - Move objective based, classed-team play. Weapons you have to control, more focus less flashy. Jumping, diving, mantling caused a shooting penalty.
Now we have two Call of Duty games. Both full of running, smg toting, bunny hopping, slide cancelling, heli spamming no objective players with weird cheesy abilities like some sort of Batman.

No, classes don’t encourage teamplay. If a player doesn’t want to participate in teamplay a class will not change that. And many players played the class only for the weapon they preferred instead of the teamplay aspect.
You can still read it in the game chat when players asking, if somebody can get rid of an annoying Helicopter instead of trying it by them self. And these are not isolated cases.
To many players expecting that somebody else is doing it instead of switching their own gear. (Because then they need to get out of their comfort zone)
BF2042 and the specialist system give you the freedom of choice of your equipment and is more open for teamplay ever but to many players are here for a good K/D and not to PTFO.
I like the Specialist system and that they got rid of restriction of a classes is a good thing.
For example there was an annoying stealth helicopter bugging me on the oil platforms on the Breakaway that kept in stealth mode so no one could target him. So I switched to Rao and hacked him which took him out of stealth mode and took him out with 2 AA rockets. I made it my mission to pursue him over most of the map. Now tell me you could do that with regular classes?
