Any updates on Missing Features and Quality of Life improvements?(Listed within)

@Straatford87 New skins are nice but when are we going to see some major Quality of Life updates?

If "all hands are on deck" when can we expect to see a major QOL improvement patch?

Also what, if anything, is being done to address those missing iconic features that make a Battlefield game, Battlefield?

Credit goes to Jellyswim on Reddit. I've cut some points that are no longer relevant and I have added a few of my own. Feel free to add yours in the comments and I'll add to the list.

Core Features
  • No standard server browser(Official DICE Servers)

  • No standard Map Rotations for AOW
  • No standard hardcore mode

  • No conventional scoreboard(post match seen by all)

  • No persistent lobbies (seriously why do I have to matchmake after EVERY round?)

  • No top Pilot
  • No top Squad
  • No class system

  • Less character customization options (than BF5)

  • No profile progress/stats page in the menu

  • No battle log/stats tracker for other players

  • No global leader boards

  • No snatching dog tags on melee kill as shown in the trailer(Dozer taking tags)

  • No custom emblems

  • No cross-game profile screen (BF 4, HL, 1, and V were all linked by a menu if you owned them digitally, was a neat feature.)

  • No spectator mode

  • No permanent community servers (would be useful for clans and events)

  • No Rental Server Program
  • No Official DICE test range ala BF4

Infantry Gameplay
  • Fewer guns (even including all the portal guns, BF4 still had more at launch)

  • Fewer infantry gadgets

  • Drastically downgraded melee system compared to BF1. 2042 melee takedowns are unreliable with zero predictability when attacking unsuspecting opponent from behind
  • No manual leaning

  • No diving while swimming

  • No high wall vaulting

  • No crouch sprinting

  • No backwards prone

  • No explosion knockback

  • No rolling after falling from heights

  • No scope zeroing

  • No tiered reloads/paused reloads

  • No thermal optics

  • No indirect fire gadgets

  • Less anti-tank launchers (Javelin, SRAW, RPG)

  • No lock-on launchers (The M5 works with the SOFLAM but that requires 2 people)

  • No IGLA or 2042 version(No lock required, Instant fire, 33% longer range than Stinger but have to hold on target)
  • No AP mines/claymores

  • No SLAM Mines
  • No AA Mines
  • No suppression mechanic (This one I don't mind but I'm including everything)

  • No first person takedown animations (whether this is a downgrade is up for debate, but I think it is)

  • No spawn in camera previewing a selected spawn point(ala BF4)
  • No static AA guns around the map
Vehicles
  • Fewer vehicle types (and separate vehicle progression per faction even though they are functionally identical... why???)

  • No naval vehicles

  • Cannot spawn reliably in a passenger seat in transports at round start. Sometimes you can, sometimes you cant.

  • No vehicle gunner direction indicator

  • No lock on direction indicator

  • No unoccupied seat indicator on friendly vehicles

  • No vehicle enter/exit animations

  • Less vehicle driver/pilot customization options

  • No tank zoom customization options

  • No heli gunner secondary weapons

  • No separate heli/fixed-wing controls

  • No rocket impact reticle for helicopters

  • No option to toggle tank turret decoupling

  • No control input while looking behind/free looking in Hind/Condor aircraft (BF1 and V pilots, this one is gonna absolutely suck for you guys)

  • No joystick/non-generic gamepad support

  • No active armor mechanic for tanks
  • No AI AA in spawn to keep enemy air from spawn camping
  • No spawn in safe zone that's out of bounds to enemy aircraft camping your spawn
  • General consensus seems to be that the helicopter and fixed wing flight models are both a step down from BF4.
Scoring System
  • No squad wipe scoring

  • No player damage points

  • No vehicle damage points

  • No vehicle kill assist points

  • No laser designation kill assist points

  • No headshot bonus

  • No long-range kill/ marksman bonus

  • No assist counts as kill bonus

  • No multi-kill bonus

  • No killstreak stopped bonus

  • No comeback bonus

  • No squad objective play bonus

  • Oversimplified teamplay scoring (i.e. healing a teammate always gives you a flat +5xp rather than being based on how much you heal them)

Squad and Teamwork
  • No commander mode

  • No squad streaks(“last man in squad!”)
  • No special squad call-in abilities(Air strike, Artillery, Smoke Screen)

  • No squad field upgrades(Perks system ala BF4)

  • Fewer factions (with almost nothing to give the 2 factions any distinction)

  • No team changing

  • No "create new squad" option

  • No UI features that show all squads separately(Alpha Squad, Bravo Squad, Charlie Squad)
  • No option to switch into the squad of your choosing

  • No self promote to squad lead using "request order"

  • No squad bonuses for attacking assigned objectives. If they are there, it's not noticeable.
  • No clans/platoons c

  • Smaller squad size

  • No custom Clan Emblems
  • No "Medic incoming" indicator in downed state Added!

  • No rank names/icons, just a number.

Maps
  • Lack of persistent servers leads to poor map rotation

  • Fewer base game maps (not including portal maps)

  • No static weapon emplacements

  • Fewer destructible buildings

  • Very poor balance between vehicle and infantry gameplay

  • No infantry focused maps. Removing vehicles isn't the same as maps designed specifically for infantry v infantry.

  • No game changing levolution

  • Absolutely zero cover between capture zones

  • Poor spawn points (Constantly spawning in the open/visible to enemies)

  • No fortification building (given how open all the maps are, this could have been super useful)

  • Distinct lack of overhead cover from omnipresent Hind/Condor and Stealth Helos.
  • Lack of craters and dug in fighting positions(below ground cover)
  • Lack of built up fighting positions
  • Fewer urban areas

  • No naval maps

UI and Quality of Life
  • Less control customization options

  • Less UI customization options

  • Takes 30+ button presses on console to swap weapons for all load outs. That's in and out of match
  • No "hot swap" loadout options that only takes one or two button presses.
  • No HUD/icon opacity customization

  • No HUD scaling customization options

  • No mini-map zoom scale

  • No elevation difference indication for enemies on mini map

  • No gunsight reticle customization options

  • No network performance graph

  • No individual player scoreboard

  • No ability to zoom in on the spawn map

  • Less ultrawide monitor support (hud ratio is locked in at 16:9)

  • Very poor friend joining system (Lack of server browser makes playing with more than 4 friends completely impossible)

  • Poor console aim assist

  • Pre Match: Can't change loadouts after choosing a vehicle
  • Pre Match: Can't see the objectives on map after choosing a vehicle
  • Pre Match: Can't change squads after choosing a vehicle
  • Pre Match: Cant exit the match after choosing a vehicle
  • Pre Match: Can't deselect chosen vehicle
  • Pre Match: Cant see squad mates vehicle because all vehicle icons are piled on top of one another on the map
  • Pre Match: Being constantly pulled out of adjusting loadouts and forced to spawn in. This was overwhelmingly disliked in BFV when the game went live and thankfully DICE reverted back to the way we've always played Battlefield. How was the same mistake repeated for 2042?
Audio
  • 3D soundscape is almost non-exsistent

  • Less impactful soundtrack (menu music is very dull and repetitive)

  • End of round music is dull and uninteresting (compared to BF1 and V this is a big downgrade)

  • Playing as infantry, no reliable sounds from enemy Tanks, enemy Hind/Condor and enemy Stealth helos half of the time.  Reliably knowing what's going on around you is half of the fight. We wouldn't accept invisible aircraft or invisible tanks and we shouldn't accept nearby aircraft and tanks that aren't making any sounds.
