BF2042 Balance, Anti Air vs Air Vehicals

The distance VS ranges of the Air Vehicals and damage.

As an example, the helicopters can shoot and hit targets from basicly any range. If im on the ground and a helicopter is high above, I get hit but I can not shoot back. The Anti Air "Stinger" can not lock on, due to to SHORT range of operation. That distance needs to be increased a lot for the Stinger. The time it takes to reload the Anti Air "Stinger" takes to long and has to few "missiles". The possibility for a helicopter to avoid the missile is to great. Then it takes to long to aquire target lock again... in 80% of the fights, me as a foot soldier gets killed. Cause im easy to spot and can not get away. Two things there, running VS flying and when I get hit I STOP. This needs to be balanced in more then one way. As it is now, the helicopters are to powerfull due to bad mechanics in the Anti Air functions.

First thing that needs to happen is less helicopters per map untill this is fixed / balanced.

As it is now, there is no balance in those features at all and it ruins the game. Much cause of the way the maps are designed. It's nice and all with large maps but there is no cover at all.. Allmost every cover there is can be destroyed, while beeing out in the middle of the maps. The pure CQB / infantry areas are to few with almost no way to get between without a vehical.

To few players stop and pick you up if you are running in the open and they drive past you.

One more thing...

At the start of each map, we need more vehicals on the big maps. Im not talking about Tanks or Hovercrafts. But where the infantry is droped we need to be able to bring in something like the quadbikes. Running on these large maps is not to fun after 200 games or even less.

  • Over a year since this was posted, air vehicles still broken. They regenerate flares faster than you can reload your stinger and need 4 rocket hits to destroy. Basically as infantry it's impossible to destroy air vehicles. Also, armored vehicles got a buff for no reason. They were already hard to kill and now they take 4 shots from a javelin to kill. Dice, you may want to fire whoever is in charge of balancing your game. They just make the infantry vs vehicle balance worse with every update.

    @Dronegan except when the heli is above you, ever seen a real AA tank that cant shoot vertically? Well, DICE designed one

    And why do you think that a helicopter should not have a chance to win over an anti-aircraft gun? From practice, if the anti-aircraft gun was distracted or missed the attacking helicopter from the field of view, then the factor of surprise is on the side of the helicopter, which has a chance to take advantage of this. I have a good skill in a helicopter and I can say that a good anti-aircraft gunner who set out to prevent helicopters from flying around on the map freely locks the helicopter in spawn and does not allow it to fly out. When I take an anti-aircraft gun, I don’t have any problems in the fight against aircraft.

    Park a Wildcat with the dual 30's next to an EMKV90, problem solved.
