BF2042: The case for "All Chat" being permitted [ESRB: M 17+]

Dear EA/Dice:

I understand that "All Chat" has been removed from your new game, Battlefield 2042.

What I don't understand, is why you feel it is your place to determine that friendly banter between teams will not be allowed. Yes, at times, people get punchy or trade jabs - that's on occasion. This all happens in "Team Chat" as well. Your application of "Team Chat" enabled should be uniform across all types of "Chat." You've set precedent with allowing "Team Chat." It follows, then, that "All Chat" should be allowed, just as "Team Chat" is.

My purpose in writing is for you to re-evaluate activating "All Chat." I Quote from GFINITYesports.com:


"The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) rating is no longer pending - it has been revealed. Battlefield 2042 has been rated M 17+, so is only suitable for mature audiences. This is because of "Blood, Strong Language, Violence."


Based on the M 17+ rating, we are fully capable of exchanging communications between teams. In a mature, adult, way. I envision the friendly chat between Battlefield 1 and Battlefield V players. Those "chats" are friendly in nature and that will, on occasion, be the standard for Battlefield 2042 "Chat."

 

Look how professionals in sports such as England's Cricket, American Football, Australian Rugby, Brazilian Soccer (football) exchange words with eachother. Why are we not allowed that same type of communication? Are you telling us we don't "grade" good enough to be Professional in our behavior?

Now, of course, there is the "crossing the line" type of communication. I will not get into specifics. Those types of communications should be reported for the safety of all parties involved.

    @ProStar-Ghost Did you have, "all chat," on PC?
    "Team chat," has not been implemented on console since Battlefield Modern Combat to my knowledge.
    It was useful, unless a troll joined, which happened almost every game.
    I don't recall an, "all chat," at least on console, ever.
    And I would not choose to join it. 🙂

    I totally agree, "All Chat" is one of the things that make you feel like you are playing against real players

    I fully agree and feel the experience is actually tarnished by removing all chat ,I can't even say gg anymore to the enemy or say nice shot to someone nevermind ppl talking sh#t the game feels kinda more empty now without banter between teams 128players means nothing tbh could be just bots I'm fighting ,imagine in a game of football or hockey or something and the teams weren't allowed to speak. You can't even show good sportsmanship like saying well played.

    @KillerMcKraken Firstly, I want to thank you for stopping in and participating in this thread.  Secondly, it is great to have you, as a console player, in game with us PC players - yes, I am a PC player.  I hope you have had a good experience playing BF2042.

    Usually, when "All Chat" is implemented, the player has the ability to disable "All Chat" by an ON/OFF toggle under [Options] in the game itself.  Then, you can freely enjoy your experience with the game itself.

    I hope your gaming experience is a good one.  See you on the Battlefield 2042.

    You know what would be fantastic?  Is if EA gave a * and actually provided you answers on their website ANSWERS.EA.COM!  * * are too cowardly to answer to their own patrons for their idiotic actions and inability to tell their soft clients that they can turn off global chat if their widdle feelers get hurt.

    yeah there is no reason All Chat needed to be removed. Most of us are adults and can look after ourselves. Nobody needs EA to be mothering us. All Chat needs to be added back into the game.

    I am glad that someone brought this issue back on discussion.

    As much as I personally loathed the troglodytes who say EZ at the end of the round (but they still do, they are just on team chat now), I absolutely feel that the loss of the ALL chat is a net loss for the feel of the game.

    There is a certain charm in being able to have some banter with the other team.

    If someone is being annoying we can always mute them like we can mute certain teammates already.

    Sure, people can be upset that they died and may call someone a hax but this is normal in videogames and does not need "correcting". If someone cannot stand chat, they can turn it off permanently on their client.

    Here is an idea, let there be ALL chat but make it an option that is OFF by default and let any of us who want to turn it on to consent that we can deal with whatever someone says in there. Like grown-ups

    But I despair that  EA DICE will not listen because there is not enough pressure applied on them on that issue...
