Buyer Beware: Year 1 Pass "Purchase" Does NOT Cross Over

If you plan on buying BF2042 on more than one platform and you have read that "purchases" will cross over meaning you will not have to buy more than one year one pass, as things stand, you would be incorrect. As I have found out the hard way, despite the following quote listed on the BF 2042 page, I cannot access the content purchased on PS5 on my XSX.

"As a reminder, we also have cross-progression functionality within Battlefield 2042, which will be shared across all platforms and travel with you wherever you go as long as you play on the same EA account. This means your unlocked progress and completed purchases in your PlayStation® copy of the game will carry over onto the Xbox or PC version, and vice versa."

What is more frustrating, there is a bug right now that if I use any of the skins on PS5 in my load outs and then log on to the game on my Xbox, any load out involving the Year 1 pass content gets reset. This adds insult to injury.

EA's Help is by and large clueless about the fact that this cross over of purchases is advertised and instead subjected me to a variety of "solutions" and explanations that only added to this frustration. As things currently stand, I am avoiding use of the Year 1 Pass cosmetics so I can at least play without issue when I move back and forth.

I definitely recommend EA clarify or update the above quote to reflect this feature of cross over "purchases" does not cover the only extra purchase one can make currently make for BF 2042 - the Year 1 Pass

  • Personally, I think they should provide additional content across all platforms, provided you've bought it on one and have purchased the base game on those platforms.

The decision to buy the base game itself on multiple platforms is on you and your personal choice to have it on different platforms, but I feel like any additional content purchased beyond that should be made available on whatever systems you own the game.

I have it on both ps5 and pc (gold bought on pc and standard on ps5).

When you log onto the PS5, does it show that you own the Year 1 Pass under “Store” tab in the game?

  • @denogginizer Yeah I noticed the same on Ps5 and PC.

Bought the Gold Edition on Ps5 and the regular version on PC, and the skins from the Ps5 gold edition was nowhere to be found on the PC version.

@denogginizerHave you posted this in the 'Bug reports' section?

Yes. Still being told Year 1 pass is not considered a “purchase” eligible for cross over. Others have reported same issue. Dirty business.

"While there are a few limitations to cross-progression we want to make you aware of, such as Special Edition cosmetics, the Digital Artbook & Soundtrack, unspent Premium Currency and pre-order items not carrying over, we’re excited about giving you the freedom to play and progress wherever you choose to play."

but why 1 year pass too? when I buy a pass separately, it is not part of ultimate / gold.. why ea? :]
