Class re-rework

When I think of support I think of ammo resupplies and mid range LMG play and when I think of medic I think of med crates and fighting up close.

That still doesn't make any sense.

1. 3/4 had MEDICS not Assault. Other then 1 and 5, the only other title that I remember having assault was the BC series and all they did was swap the roles of support and medic. Gave assault the ammo crates ' which made sense for their role as a Frontline fighter class ' and support got medical duty....which made no sense, considering they also had the LMGs.

I get all the other titles had the medic being almost OP with the ' best "' guns plus being able to heal and revive...but that doesn't mean to completely nude the whole class formula that made the franchise what it has been for years. They could have always just tweaked what weapons they got access to. Like giving the medics carbines instead of ARs and make the AR a universal weapon for all classes. Medics then get carbines which suites their Frontline infantry fighting role but doesn't make them the best overall weapon for all ranges....and no nuking the class system that no one even wanted removed. Tweaked perhaps but not tossed out the window for a hero shooter formula..

Well, unfortunately, this new class rework is still keeping weapons to be all universal. It is just if you are using the correct weapon for a certain class, then you get a boost in performance with that weapon or ability somehow. Like recon using a sniper rifle and being able to hold your breath longer. I think support gets a quicker deploy time with the bipod? Idk.

Personally, I prefer class locked weapons...because, just like having class locked gadgets, it better helps define the class and the role they are meant to play as within the match.

While this rework is a small, itsy bitsy, step in the right direction. It might not be enough to draw in those of us that refuse to play a hero shooter..

It might be enough to peak our curiosity, I know I am going to try it out on the PS4 when it comes out on EA play....but, it might not be enough to keep us.

Most likely I will just fall back into Portal and play with the BF3 factions but sadly....there isn't enough content there to make it worth wild. All of their weapons and gadgets are already unlocked, not enough vehicles to pick from..or weapons or gadgets. Certainly not enough classic ' legacy maps...which is for now, they play just as well on the 2042 maps. But they also don't get to use any of the new weapons, vehicles or gadgets...so..that's a bummer. 

Plus they are stuck using the 2042 class method of sticking you with a gadget slot that is locked and pre picked for you and just one open gadget slot to pick from...not cool...

This statement seems to imply you think some roles weren't getting filled by the original BF2042 approach.

Which roles aren't getting filled in BF2042 currently?  

If you want to argue for class locked weapons because you like the role playing element I can accept that.

I have a harder time accepting the idea that class locked weapons will 'solve' an issue with under/over used roles.

Consider that any under used roles we have currently are likely because that role isn't much fun.  Forcing weapons to get people to play unfun roles doesn't seem like the right approach.

To answer the other person's question, I honestly can't say, I just know for me, having class locked weapons with gadgets just feels right. This whole create a class just feels too much like CoD to me...and doesn't sit well with me.

I would be completely fine if they tweaked the classes where certain classes got different weapons then normal.

Course the real issue is the insanely low amount of weapons in this title. I mean, for now...with the low amount of weapons, they couldn't make a decent class locked weapons list.

Medics could get carbines instead of ARs, so they don't get the ' best ' weapon type. ARs could be thrown into the universal weapons pool, like BF4 had.

Or they could change it up a bit, where classes got two types of class weapons ' shrugs' bit that could be further down the road.

My main issue ATM is support not having to sling medical and resupply team mates and having two classes that technically were made to deal with vehicles. We don't need assault while we have engineer class but we DO need a medic class.

What we have so many been asking for since before the BF2042 launch is to rid of those silly super heros and instead have the classic BF soldier classes instead.  Think about e.g. the old but good BF4 soldier classes and sub classes, because that is were essentially now BF2042 and the super heros could simply adopt towards.

In BF4, we had the 4 classes but inside each of these, you could still choose what specialization on top, which would be maxed out and rewarded through collaborative team and squad gameplay.  Exactly what makes Battlefield extra fun and special and what is still absent in BF2042.

E.g. in BF4 you had these classes and sub-specializations:

Assault:

• Defensive
• Shadow
• Offensive
• Combat Medic
• Grenadier

Support:

• Defensive
• Shadow
• Offensive
• Indirect Fire
• Perimeter Defense

Engineer:

• Defensive
• Shadow
• Offensive
• Mechanic
• Anti-Tank

Recon:

• Defensive
• Shadow
• Offensive
• Special Ops
• Sniper

So can we please stop having to use those silly first name heros and instead use relevant and much more meaningful Battlefield military references instead for how we want to loadout our soldier!
