Compare editions

I suspect that the gold/ultimate edition "battle passes" will likely be an 'instant pass' to that season's chain of unlocks and cosmetic rewards ie

It would make sense that the "battle pass" is used instead of either grinding the requisite XP (hence everything is "Free" as EA keep alluding to) or spending (in this specific example) 3750 Boins (that could both be earned "Free" or topped-up as a dlc pack purchase.)

So all gold/ultimate owners will get those BF2042 perks soonest I expect, if not immediately.  I feel that I played BFV a lot, yet often I was unable to spend enough time in-game that season to unlock the entire chaper's rewards...  How exactly the year's "4x new Specialists" will unlock for each BF2042 edition is unclear to me.

Last time, the BFV 'Special Assignments' exclusive to 'deluxe' owners transpired to only be an additional means for earning a meagre few extra XP and i'm glad it's been dropped for BF2042 as it was a total disappointment and wasn't worth it... although it sounded great during the pre-release hype-train!  In hindsight, I would have chosen the standard BFV edition and skipped that along with the "bonus skin bundles" of 5x paratrooper outfits and early play.  Let's see...

There will be Paid and Free section of Battle Pass. If you buy Battle Pass, you will get more items from it.

If you don't buy Battle Pass, you will get only certain number of items that will be Free to every player for earning XP's that specific Season. 🙂

I don't think @DJ_Englishman was saying anything different to that. But, if you buy the Gold or Ultimate editions that includes the passes for the first year, so you will get that content because you have paid up front for it.

Where did you get the info about XP and getting a few free unlocks each season? I've not seen that or are you just assuming that it will work the same way as Warzone?

Saw the link @WindowsManTv_CZE . Thanks. Still not sure about the detail though. Says it will work in the same way as other games, but I  have only played WarZone so I don't know if that is typical, though I'm guessing it is. 

The bit I wasn't sure about was, if you don't buy a battle pass can you use XP to buy or have access to a limited number of battle pass unlocks?  And, do we assume that you can earn XP to purchase the Battle Pass.... so future battle passes will be essentially free to the regular player?

I’m betting on a two track battle pass system as found in Paladins and other games. One track is free, the other is for those who paid for the pass

As you gain xp and move along the battle pass you unlock various items. The paid for track just happens to have more. As these are cosmetics I have no issue with some being locked onto the paid track.
