No hope for BF2042, a little maybe for the franchise. Most of the staff seems to have moved to the next project of the studio (next BF?). Support for BF2042 will be underwhelming (looking at you scoreboard taking almost 3 months to make) and I am not sure they will provide season 1 or just reimburse the gold and platinum editions with some discount on the store they purchased the game. In general things move very slowly and not in time to bring people back and make this game something to remember fondly like BF4.
There have been changes in DICE (new GM) and a lot of hiring is happening (almost 40 new open positions every month). Unless a complete overhaul/change of mentality of the studio is done, next BF will be of the same quality. I am not saying devs haven't worked their * off for this game. But decisions and strategy was completely off and I feel very sorry for the work put in this project, because the result was the worst BF in history. - sinisterNL4 years agoRising Vanguard
None.

Every time I do place some hope on this game it just gets shot down... I was hoping to see some substantial fixes and changes in the patch notes but besides the scoreboard and some insignificant bug fixes there wasn't anything that made me go "alright, they're working hard!"
I'm sorry but the next update with actual changes coming early april? That's another month again... The game has already lost most of its playerbase...
So what to do? Put my hopes on the next update again? Maybe come back in Season 1 (if they're going to bother with actual content)?
This game shouldn't have released in this state, with this little content and it certainly shouldn't have been designed as it was... There's nothing that makes me feel like I'm playing a Battlefield game anymore... Its like I'm playing a free-2-play CoD clone with broken vehicles and horrible maps and the game is still in early access...

Unfortunately not.
We even have this proposal that would enable them to bring us all proper map rotations and persistent servers with basically zero effort on their end. We asked for a feedback on this at least and all we got is SILENCE.
So no, no hope anymore (even though we are still pushing for this to get implemented) if they do not even comment on such an easy way to make the life of all players better. Or rather implement it right away,
I do have hope for the game and am still looking forward to S1 when it comes out.

The odds are definitely stacked against DICE at this point.
Nope still has shocking spawn points!
Gadgets deploy when they feel like it still!
netcode abysmal still!
lack of vehicle balance still!
some players seemingly freeze still!
I die for no apparent reason still!
on and on and on and on
if this was any other product you would want your money back irrespective of how long you have used it!
- @VRACinque BF2042 will get Anthem'd, just a matter of time (legally speaking). BF as a franchise will more than likely die the death of F2P or go into oblivion like the MGS series did with Metal Gear Survive.

The only hope is for the franchise to be picked up by another studio or for the entire IP to be acquired by another company.
For 2042, come on. It's already dead and has been for several months. There is not enough time to correct all the things to make this thing playable with replayability. A new map will be fun for a week or two, then what? Also, how many times would you get to play the new map using MM? You would be lucky to get it 1 in 8 matches if they only added a single map. Sometimes it takes me 12-15 rounds to hit every map once and that is very lucky.
They would have to address all the current concerns, offer several new maps, bring back several classics into AOW, add at least 2-3 new weapons per class, some new gadgets, new vehicles, and a fairly robust progression system. That is an entirely new game and it took them 2+ years to deliver what we got.
