Don't you dare Nerf LittleBird without fixing AA

I hear the next patch has a little bird nerf(cause that's what we need), but as it stands now you really have to be lucky that theres not more than one person with an AA Launcher.

I just played a game where I was able to take down multiple Attack Choppers by myself with 2-3 AA Missles, very fast. The missles didnt unlock after their flares. And i was able to launch missle fast without having to relock.

The AA is busted atm and Air does not have the advantage, if you kill even one person and they respawn with AA your finished.

  • @Flavin913I suspect that the thing that they will nerf is the Nightbird minigun damage vs helicopters.
A Nightbird minigun on the right hands can currently deplete the entire health of an attack helicopter that is not piloted by an insane stuntman before the attack heli has the chance to launch a singe heat seeker back.

Are you a pilot? I feel safe assuming your not since you think AA works fine, even when im on the Ground and use AA I know it doesn't work fine.

I can skip the relock animation on my missles, thats not right....

Im not saying Nerf AA, im saying, fix it cause its for sure bugged, the lock times on multiple rockets and the first rocket comming back to hit is not right.

I hope your right, the miniguns VS. other choppers are doing quite a lot of damage

@Flavin913Basically the nightbird nerf was announced in within the context of the nerf of the hovercraft armaments. So my assumption is that this will be the change because the only common thing that the hovercraft and the Nightbird have in common is the minigun.

By the way from about yesterday, there are more and more people who unlock the soflam. So things are just about to get a lot worse for anything that is a vehicle.
The BF2042 soflam is the PLD from BF4. It makes every dumbfire Recoiless launcher to work as the Javelin from BF3/4 and lock on to designated ground and air vehicles.

Personally as someone who has played both the air and anti air side a lot already, I am surprised that they first went for adjusting the Nightbird, when the most troubling aircraft right now are the "Orbital" attack helicopters which can fly as high as possible and farm infantry from so far that not even the guns of the Wildcat can reach them.
The only things that can reach them up there are aircraft and since they have the high ground, a good AH crew can hold their own against any other aircraft right now (because the Jet guns are pathetic compared to the gunner's 360 degree 30mm + the heli pilots IR missiles, which often come back after the flares for a double hit)

  • It needs a nerf, it's a transport heli, not a flying tank which it is right now, slow lock on with AA means it takes a long time to take them out, meanwhile a solflam/M5 combo does take them out in 1.

This happens all the time after every new release….people think that because they are in a vehicle they should be immune to all projectiles.

scream and shout long  enough and dice nerf anything that scratches them and then buffs them to make sure then rinse repeat next game!

I agree with you, but for whatever reason it seems that helicopter pilots scream and shout the most.

Heli pilots, if you want to survive you have to run for cover once you pop your flares.  Just like everyone else in the game, once you are being shot at, if the threat is not immediately identifiable and killable, you have to find cover.

Also using the AA is not completely “skilless”, to effectively use AA you have to find a spot that is reasonably close to the action, with a good view sky, but not so open that you get your melon popped by a sniper (or run over by a hovercraft, knifed/shot by infantry, blown up by a tank, or killed by anything else on the ground you are not looking at). Then you have to acquire a lock, maybe shoot immediately, maybe wait for the flares, reacquire lock (all the while any little thing will break the lock) and shoot again and maybe again.

To call anything in this game a “skill” is kind of a joke, it’s all just thumb twiddling (on console). Pretty much nobody will ever make a penny or attract a mate or become famous by acquiring this “skill”.

  • How are the AA missiles able to achieve a lock when I touch down on the ground?

The only way I've found to avoid getting locked onto is if there's something close enough to get behind.

I have been killed many times from a one hit missile and have been locked onto right after deploying counter measures. If they don't fix those issues I hope they will add a counter measure the makes it take a second or two longer to achieve a lock.

  • What are these braindead posts about fixing AA ?

I mean look at the games and scoreboards. They are dominated by people piloting choppers .
This game at its current state is just annother Vehicle  simulator.

You have 128 players and the outcome is decided by the 15 guys on the server running choppers, jets and tanks.
If you are not stupid as a pilot you will take 1 hit , kill som more people easy mode , flares and then fly out to the edge of the map and heal up. Just keep repeating the process.

  • Dont know how youve been so lucky just played kleidoscope 3 helicopters shot 1 down rest flew beyond 300m and was unable to shoot
