Gun Plus Changes are instant (No animation)

This could be due to the alpha state of the game but Jackfrags mentioned that in his closed viewing of the gameplay the gun plus changes were instant. I really hope there is some kind of balance to this through some kind of animation delay or other balance measures. This instant "Boom now you have an instant noob toob and red dot sight" completely does away with the tactical foresight and risk/reward decisions you need to make when selecting a load out. I was not a fan of the idea in the beginning and this makes me less of a fan of the idea. I guess we will see on Sunday but this just doesn't sound appealing at all. I hope I am pleasently surprised

Animations contributed to making BF1 and especially BFV, less fun titles.

I hope they will get rid of as many as possible.

The only in battlefield moments are hamstrung by delays from exit animations

From the way Jackfrags explained it, it works similar to the comm rose.  The sniper elite series comes to mind, it only takes a couple seconds to select, but its countered by a "loading bar" as the switch is made so there's no instant weapon configuration.

I think DICE will use a similar approach,  so swapping attachments isn't going to be something that can be abused because it essentially disarms you until it's done.

Not to say you can't swap to pistol in the middle of it. You can cancel the reload in BF4 by switching so it will probably be similar.

Let's not forget, BF4 allowed for 2 sights (an optic and a canted sight for example), lasers or torches on or off etc.

BF1 had different ammo types with the Burton.

This could just be a natural extension of that and may not be as bad as may be feared.

  • We have anime to

    - reload a magazine

    - chamber a bolt action or shotgun.

    - switch fire modes

But suddenly remove scope replace scope needs to be or is magical.

    Wait and see.

@ZombieP1ow Id like to bet the vast majority of players don't go about actively looking for their 'money shot' moment.some do, and that's great, but a few 'hollywood' moments to put on YouTube shouldn't direct how a game plays.

@ninjapenquinuk Just actively playing a crowded objective will allow you to witness moments not seen in any other franchise. I've seen some awesome sights playing this game, and they just get better as the game progress. (forward, into the future, not backwards, like 1 and V)
  • From what I read it sounded like  it's not going to let you change the setup unless you're out of combat and BFV was pretty pernickety about that. I assume you'd also need ammo from something if you switched to a grenade launcher.  But with vehicles and dogs falling out of the sky it may make sense, also sounded like these are unlocks and so it's probably so you don't feel the need to back out of the server to try a new thing.

Was also suggested the positions are in very different situations across a map, so you can change setup between sectors. And bullets to kill may mean a sight doesn't make a great deal of difference over having the correct gun for the situation.

Anywho don't think an animation would make much difference if you need to be "out of combat" in the first place.
