Helicopter issue, and general opinion about some game mechanics
I have a few things I am curious about the opinion on, as well as a general gameplay issue. I am using PS4 so it may be different for PC and other systems
For the general gameplay issue:
when it comes to helicopters I have found that it is difficult to fly and get hits or kills due to there not being any functionality to aim the weapons on the helicopter while hovering without having to tilt the entire aircraft forward which means the helicopter always has to move forward in order to aim weapons which is really difficult not counting the lag issues that I sometimes get with controls in helicopters/helicopter bike. on BF4 the helicopters could be aimed a bit while hovering so it could be used for close air support situations even though it was extra risky but 2042 helicopters can't aim up or down for some reason. does the PC have such an issue? there are many more setups possible with M&K so I would assume that it's less of an issue.
as for the opinion-based discussion (this will be long):
I am unsure if people hated the design and functionality of vehicles (particularly planes) in the previous two titles BF1 and BFV, but I really liked how planes in particular worked in those games and it felt vastly more balanced than BF4 ever was, and more than 2042 currently is. what are the opinions of people about what I mention below?
Would people like to have vehicles need to go to resupply points like in BFV? I think that I would prefer that because currently, most vehicles can just act as they used to in BF4 where they are usually not on the objective, one of the worst issues is AA which is always annoying to a pilot in any game, but BF4 and 2042 AA is the worst type because it sits in the base and shoots, and even has homing missiles which are an instant kill on aircraft that don't have cover or countermeasures, whereas in BFV, in particular, it was far better balanced, mobile AA still frequently hid in the base but couldn't hit across the world and was as much of a target as the planes it shot at if the pilot was good enough and didn't have the stupid lock on weaponry.
Tanks are on the objective about 40 percent of the time in 2042, it's difficult to describe, but it's obvious tanks in 2042 aren't as effective as the BFV/BF1 versions and I feel like it is partly because in BF4 and 2042 they don't move or even really bother with objectives the same way they did in BFV and BF1, even when tanks were "camping" in the previous two games it felt like it was more valid than the modern themed games, probably because the tanks had to be near objectives most of the time to get supplies so they actually defended them.
For planes, I've only been able to test them in the portal against AI due to testing the controls, and it reminds me of BF4 honestly, I hate it because it's the same annoying nonsense 4 had which is why I never bothered to fly in that game after a few attempts, I never see jets except for the rare few times in hourglass or Caspian, likely because they aren't all that useful, and the amazing circling battle that is BF4 jet fights, plus the great and always fun to use and play against lock on weapons (sarcasm) that tend to fill servers makes jets not a very good choice if you don't want to rage, unlike the planes from BFV/BF1 which had air to ground, and air to air capabilities and even though they got shot down it was usually due to skill of other pilots, AA, or fliegerfaust (BFV) users.
Yes, I know modern armies have lock-on weapons of all sorts, but I'd prefer if the lock-on weapons for soldiers were removed or if they were just temporary pickups or something so its no so obnoxiously common in the modern themed games, and for vehicles, I also feel the lock-on weapons are annoying and stupid a majority of the time, just give planes/helicopters different bomb types, and different gun types to fight ground and or other aircraft just like BFV, give land vehicles and players TV guided, wire-guided, dumb fire rockets, etc. and make AA more like the BFV type where it uses flak instead of map crossing bullets because modern themed AA suuuuuuuuuuucks.
