Helicopter issue, and general opinion about some game mechanics

I have a few things I am curious about the opinion on, as well as a general gameplay issue.  I am using PS4 so it may be different for PC and other systems

For the general gameplay issue:
when it comes to helicopters I have found that it is difficult to fly and get hits or kills due to there not being any functionality to aim the weapons on the helicopter while hovering without having to tilt the entire aircraft forward which means the helicopter always has to move forward in order to aim weapons which is really difficult not counting the lag issues that I sometimes get with controls in helicopters/helicopter bike. on BF4 the helicopters could be aimed a bit while hovering so it could be used for close air support situations even though it was extra risky but 2042 helicopters can't aim up or down for some reason. does the PC have such an issue? there are many more setups possible with M&K so I would assume that it's less of an issue.

as for the opinion-based discussion (this will be long):

I am unsure if people hated the design and functionality of vehicles (particularly planes) in the previous two titles BF1 and BFV, but I really liked how planes in particular worked in those games and it felt vastly more balanced than BF4 ever was, and more than 2042 currently is. what are the opinions of people about what I mention below?

Would people like to have vehicles need to go to resupply points like in BFV? I think that I would prefer that because currently, most vehicles can just act as they used to in BF4 where they are usually not on the objective, one of the worst issues is AA which is always annoying to a pilot in any game, but BF4 and 2042 AA is the worst type because it sits in the base and shoots, and even has homing missiles which are an instant kill on aircraft that don't have cover or countermeasures, whereas in BFV, in particular, it was far better balanced, mobile AA still frequently hid in the base but couldn't hit across the world and was as much of a target as the planes it shot at if the pilot was good enough and didn't have the stupid lock on weaponry.

Tanks are on the objective about 40 percent of the time in 2042, it's difficult to describe, but it's obvious tanks in 2042 aren't as effective as the BFV/BF1 versions and I feel like it is partly because in BF4 and 2042 they don't move or even really bother with objectives the same way they did in BFV and BF1, even when tanks were "camping" in the previous two games it felt like it was more valid than the modern themed games, probably because the tanks had to be near objectives most of the time to get supplies so they actually defended them.

For planes, I've only been able to test them in the portal against AI due to testing the controls, and it reminds me of BF4 honestly, I hate it because it's the same annoying nonsense 4 had which is why I never bothered to fly in that game after a few attempts, I never see jets except for the rare few times in hourglass or Caspian, likely because they aren't all that useful, and the amazing circling battle that is BF4 jet fights, plus the great and always fun to use and play against lock on weapons (sarcasm) that tend to fill servers makes jets not a very good choice if you don't want to rage, unlike the planes from BFV/BF1 which had air to ground, and air to air capabilities and even though they got shot down it was usually due to skill of other pilots, AA, or fliegerfaust (BFV) users.

Yes, I know modern armies have lock-on weapons of all sorts, but I'd prefer if the lock-on weapons for soldiers were removed or if they were just temporary pickups or something so its no so obnoxiously common in the modern themed games, and for vehicles, I also feel the lock-on weapons are annoying and stupid a majority of the time, just give planes/helicopters different bomb types, and different gun types to fight ground and or other aircraft just like BFV, give land vehicles and players TV guided, wire-guided, dumb fire rockets, etc. and make AA more like the BFV type where it uses flak instead of map crossing bullets because modern themed AA suuuuuuuuuuucks.

  • About the helicopter always moving forward i understand you and its really annoying trying to aim especially on the stealth helicopter with no explosives main cannon

  • About the AA a better balance is to reduce the range of missiles - what i believe is 600 to 400 meters -

  • The jets are very useful and i believe overpowered against tanks with the right person

  • Good topic. I’m not sure that DICE has plans to make changes to the mechanics in the future, but I’ll still speak out.
    1. Attack helicopters need to upgrade the 127 mm Hydra missiles. It is very difficult to hit the NightBird at a distance of 100 m, since alternate shooting from the pylons (left/right) flies past the hitbox of the NightBird on the sides. Moving the sight to shoot on the sides of the pylon shot is crazy. It is also very difficult to get into JETS; it practically comes down to luck. It is required to increase the radius of registration of hits of all unguided missiles against air targets.
    2. Rotations of the helicopter gunner turret. It is necessary to decouple the rotation of the gun from the position and maneuver of the helicopter. For a shooter, it’s torture to try to take aim with a constantly maneuvering helicopter, do it like in BF4, here’s the standard for a good shooter’s work. For this reason, players still do not sit too long in the place of the shooter and jump into the thick of things using the helicopter as a respawn.
    3. Respawn by helicopter. Prohibit respawning in the pilot's seat when the helicopter is occupied. Only in the place of the shooter is there a revival. It’s very annoying when you don’t have a gunner and you have to transfer to a gunner and suddenly LOL revives in the pilot’s place and crashes the helicopter into the LEP support.
    4. Active JETS missiles are not dropped by decoys. Until now, DICE has not addressed this problem for several updates. It’s either designed this way, which is very disappointing, or no one talks about it. Of course, they can be dropped with a maneuver, but it is not always possible to control where they are launched from.
Postscript: the other day I played 32-32 at Vozrozhdenie in a helicopter, almost the whole team turned on me and it was really impossible to raise my nose. They hounded me from everywhere, I had to crawl on the ground from barrier to barrier. I snapped back as best I could, but it was not a game, but torture, I was ready to destroy the helicopter just because every 2nd infantryman was aiming at me. Maybe for stingers, maybe also add the “Below the radar” property or reduce the target acquisition radius for stingers?

  • the missiles are indeed an issue currently as well as the bullets, i still feel with the way the maps are designed that it would be best if the AA tanks/launchers were turned into the BFV or bf1 type of weapon, it would force players to go to specific locations to defend against aircraft (usually near objectives) making it more balanced.

If I wanted to kill a jet or helicopter I could either find the WW1/2 era emplacement or get the antiaircraft vehicle and move near an objective where i am equally vulnerable to aircraft as they are to me.

i was testing jets and helicopters the other day in portal against all AI and its still frustrating, stingers everywhere, jets feel weird to fly as they somehow feel slow to fly but seem extremely fast when trying to aim at anything as you get 2-3 seconds of aiming before you have to pull up, helicopters are a pain in the rear to aim because of the stupid forward movement part.

overall i ended up going to BFV to play with planes (went something like 27 or 37 to 3 which is great for me), and played 2042 for land land-based modern setting fighting.

I hated some of the stuff in BF4 and still hate it in BF2042 because it feels they reverted back from the good things BF1 and BFV did, stingers/ AA, in general, are always annoying to be against and cheap to use, being in a helicopter and having to switch between gunner/pilot if someone spawns just to drop in sucks because people spawn in and crash or spawn in and do nothing of value but cause you to be seen because they won't stop shooting at random things,

this one is just something I always hated, and that is the fact they "patched" thermal vision scopes in 4 to not work through smoke and kept that in 2042, even though it is a valid tactic on narrow or long sight line paths especially if used on an LMG to hold down a lane against a large force of enemies, the counter was always super simple as well, flashbangs, lights, or fire as those defeat the scope and can allow a quick push to take those guys out. Plus thermal in real life does work through some smoke depending on the density, its also odd because if they wanted them accurate they wouldn't function at all through glass and yet they work perfectly fine through glass and across the map as my 6x thermal sniper scope proves

Due to the ranked server selection system in BF2042, for the most part I always play on vehicles. I am constantly haunted by the feeling that there are complete cheaters with WeillHack playing around me when I play as an infantryman. It turns out that when I get more than 30 to 2 deaths in a helicopter and they throw me onto a fierce server where I, as an infantryman, don’t even have time to take aim at the enemy. This is what pisses me off about BF2042. Then my son comes in to play on my account and also gets an unpleasant game.
This mess, of course, can only be corrected by the server browser, but DICE doesn’t seem to be planning this at all.

  • any of the BF games ive played, but particularly all the ones made after 4, it has become obvious that dice's solution to "balancing" teams is if you get stuck with a completely useless team vs a very op team that somehow you deserve to stick with that, but if you do well and only focus on kills and get decent amounts it becomes a coin toss if you will get put into an entirely different server of players or if you will be stuck with the same people or not in which case youd be moved to the already over powered team to make it even less fun for everyone involved.

its made worse that you cant switch teams anymore which while abused because some people dont like losing, was much better when you have to be stuck on a team who either cant or dont want to actually play. i have had days where ive changed servers multiple times and ended up with people legitimately sitting in spawn twirling a tank and most of the team is climbing on it while the objectives are all captured by the half player count enemy team.

ive been wanting to play with vehicles more especially jets and tanks but its really difficult for some reason, land vehicles are easier to work with and i can get some kills but aircraft in 2-42 do nothing for me at all, and i hate it, while i do enjoy BF1 and BFV it sucks that i have to go to those games just to fly planes if thats what im in the mood for because 2042, and 4 are not fun experiences for such things
