I hope the drum magazine ubernerf does not make it in the actual patch

I was looking at a video of Enders talking about the patch and the last section was dedicated to a concern by the playtesters of 3.2 where DICE had increased the ADS time of guns when the drum magazine is equipped in order to incentivize the use of smaller mags

I wholeheartedly hope that this was some sort of a experiment and nothing that will make it into live servers, it would make no sense whatsoever

  • @Ahhnuld this is a given. personally fired multiple of the firearms that they use, and damn near none of them are actual characteristics of the actual weapon. the recoil alone on most of this is laughable. a 5.56 bullet, which is what most of these use, is not going to make the scope jump 5 feet in the air at 50m

@doubleome They should've used BF4 as an example. Every gun there was a place. Scar-H and Bulldog ha 20-round mags and both were extremely viable if you knew how to use them correctly.

Now we don't have to care about ranges and where the gun is most viable. Just slap on a 40 or 50-round drum and you're good for any engagement.

Without large mags, I would never get a kill.  LOL

Between old eyes, old hands, sore back from sitting at a PC so long, arthritis, and a nagging wife, I need all those extra bullets......   (nb4 comment about wife.  married 33 years to my soulmate so save it)

    Hi all,

So the Drum ADS speed nerf is indeed part of the last part of the Update 3.2 notes, which I explained here.

However, I would like to thank you for the feedback about this. It has been passed on to the teams.

    You could almost be me!

  • I love the nerf, not sure if it's too much but it was a much needed change, feels like the nerf is less then what was shown in the creator event. Too many bullets just messes with the Battlefield feel, it tipped the scales of how people played the game and it just made it worse, leaning more towards that hero shooter vibe instead of an arcady milsim shooter.

It all adds to the Battlefield experience, you should never feel too comfortable.

  • @doubleome Couldn’t disagree more. This change has really had a negative impact on the majority of gunplay in the game.

    Each to their own though.

I hope it’s removed sooner rather than later. 👍🏻

@VGC_Groover In what way has it negatively impacted the game? The bullets in a 20 or 30 mag round hurt just as much, they fly the same and sound the same.

It will force people to change their approuch to a fight knowing that they gotta be more accurate or change positioning knowing they need cover to reload before you could mow down a whole squad with much less thought behind it. now it might take an extra reload making you vulnerable for a little while.

Don't forget the enemy you face has the same issue so they'll change their playstyle as well. So those situations where a drum might seem necessary might not be as common anymore.

@UP_HawxxeyeWeird change, but necessary. There is 0 reason to run any other mag on Scar-H, MP9 or K30

Personally, I think drum mags shouldn't even be in the game in the first place because of balancing reasons. Its hard to make them work right. Either overpowered because everything else is inferior, or its useless and everything else is better.

Right now most cancer mechanic is Macay with drum Scar or K30 zooming&nooming around the map at Mach 10 while ADSing and holding down the trigger

I still think higher side-to-side recoil would've been better though. Leave your suggestions, Dice might change it in the future.

But now we are that the opposite end where everyone who knows about this change will refuse to use drum mags on any gun.

So from using only drum mags, now we will never be using drum mags.

Now there is 0 reason to run drum mags because in frontal confrontation the one who can ADS faster will get the kill , extra bullets left in the drum mag of our corpse be damned.

I believe that If they wanted to give the drum mags a fair tradeoff, it should had been at the reload speed and not at the unrelated ADS speed.

@UP_Hawxxeye - very much this. I can understand a change to reload times but slowing down ads is difficult as you end up having to exclude one or the other magazine type as muscle memory ends up all over the place during engagements!
