Joystick Support

another day with hope,maybe today is the day we get joysticks support.

And I will not use the 10 hour trial without joystick support.

So i have hidhide whitelisting my logitech extreme3d flight stick. (over a decade old minimum)

But the joystick on custom settings does not respond when trying to map keys to it..

Are you all binding keys to buttons outside of the game?   that would mean whitelisting the logitech profiler app too which defeats the purpose..

i must be missing something on this..   any thoughts?

*although a xbox controller is ok for flying & vehicles.. it's nowhere as fun as with a flight stick!

at the moment i'm using mouse+keyboard, and xbox controller for vehicles until they clean up some of the buggy behavior in the configuration.

mind blowing the extents were going to here when the options should be in the game already

Looks like the the game recognizes whatever xinput device is connected to Device ID 0, and assumes it's an Xbox controller.


You can install vJoy, and map each axis and buttons on your HOTAS devices to individual axes and buttons on a virtual vJoy device.

For reference, here is how the game expects to see the mapping:

Left Stick X Axis = vJoy X axis
Left Stick Y Axis = vJoy Y axis
Right Stick X Axis = vJoy Z axis
Right Stick Y Axis = vJoy X Rotation Axis (rx)
D-Pad Left = vJoy button 0
D-Pad Up = vJoy button 1
D-Pad right = vJoy button 2
D-Pad down = vJoy button 3
X button = vJoy button 4
Y button = vJoy button 5
B button = vJoy button 6
A button = vJoy button 7
Back button = vJoy button 8
Start button = vJoy button 9
Left Bumper = vJoy button 10
Right Bumper = vJoy button 11
Left Trigger = vJoy button 12
Right Trigger = vJoy button 13
Left Stick Pushed Down = vJoy button 14
Right Stick Pushed Down = vJoy button 15

Also, if you have additional xinput devices connected, the game gets confused. To workaround this, you need to show only a single device when the game starts. You can use a utility called HidHide to selectively hide devices when you start the game. You have to make sure that only the vJoy device shows in the Windows Game Controllers when BF 2042 starts. After the game starts, you can un-hide them back.

In order to do this, you will need the following software:

1. vJoy (virtual joystick device)

Here is how the devices should look like before starting the game (only vJoy should show)

Here is an example of using UCR to map from from a physical joystick X and Y axes, to the vJoy virtual device X and Y axes. This mapping will be seen by the game as the Controller's Left Stick X and Y axis respectively.

Finally, for all of this to work, the you will need to set the game Controller Schemes to "Custom"

That is not true, been using saitak x52 pro with all bf games except bf1, it is the only one till now with bf2042.

Why won't Dice give us an answer to joystick support? Do they even know why ????

Summarize your bug Can't bind my Saitek X52 Pro H.O.T.A.S . It registers some buttons but more then half can't be bind. Like Rotation on joystick for jaw. Get support for this controller.

i have a thrustmaster hotas on x series and it won't register AT ALL.

Jumped in a game this morning, grabbed the NightBird and immediately crashed it into a building. Awesome

Please give us Joystick support so we can fly. So annoyed
