Agreed @DaveTheBrave_USA ,
BF2042 map design is poor and lazy versus any previous versions of BF...
No depths in them, no details. They are sanitized, near empty and boring sterile.
Also reason why they will have no longevity for the game if allowed to stay in this 'only-half-done' state by EA...

@CyberDymeYes for such a leading and dominating gaming software company to produce a flagship FPS shooter as in the Battlefield franchise such as this is a disgrace!
- DaveTheBrave_USA4 years agoSeasoned Ace@fbang I forget the name of that map but it was the desert map with the train tracks running through it and it was one of the best maps in BF1. Getting out to G in a fast vehicle or horse and running over enemy infantry trying to get there too was great I think you might have to admit!
@DaveTheBrave_USA The BF1 desert map is 'Sinai'. The flag in the south in the dunes is G. Actually G was difficult to take due to it's isolation and distance. The best flag was on the north outskirts of the town at C.
- @Buzzfunk Why would you want to do any of that? Don't you know the world is made of rainbows and marshmallows? 🙂

By the Gods!
I remember the constant whinging on here about visibility in BFV being caused by 'too much clutter' on maps, now they are being lauded as fine detail?
Well that's the 'community' for you you.....
- cornybbq24 years agoSeasoned Ace@DaveTheBrave_USA yeah its a real shame the maps aren't better. i personally would've preferred smaller maps but better designed (more destruction, more details,... just more effort put into them, they don't feel genuine)
- DaveTheBrave_USA4 years agoSeasoned Ace@FlatChat Yes C was an important objective and taking D helped to take C. It was fun to place a mine in front of the armored car at C so if an enemy took the car it blew up.
- DaveTheBrave_USA4 years agoSeasoned Ace@cornybbq2 Right, smaller with less open space. And there's a lot that doesn't blow up that ought to. The map design is lazy and terrible. And don't fill maps with shipping containers.
For me it is useless to compare the old maps with the new ones since, the latter, are objectively worse from any point of view that is not the size ...
However, many of the old maps also have their flaws.
To give you an example on BF1: Amiens, Argonne Forest and Giant's Shadow all had a "hourglass" conformation which made it almost impossible to set flanks without first breaking through on one side of the map (in one of the three main routes in the case of forest and city) or parachuting behind enemy lines.
