2 - It's not a good movement mechanic when the player character unnaturally twitches from side to side. It's an exploit that is further exaggerated by the mediocre networking of BF servers.
The issue of ADAD spam has been talked about for multiple BF titles, from BF4 to 1 to 5, and now 2042. Its not a "bad" mechanic, but turning it up too much leads to some obnoxious moments like we have right now, hence this post, hence why Macay is getting nerfed.
And why are you getting so aggressive with my post? All I said was slide canceling makes you hard to hit when you pull it off. I never said remove it or change it. Personally, I like it, it does give a nice layer of movement to the game. Mackay verticality is a battlefield unicorn that requires constantly looking for enemies in impossible to reach positions, along with all the non-Mackay team mates who then herd spawn on Mackay to impossible to reach positions and then set up respawn points.
Mackay was designed for "Battle Royale", which was originally the direction of the game before it was re-worked mid-design cycle in an attempt to get back to BattleField legacy game
Mackay is simply the APEX Legends "Pathfinder" copied from one EA game to another EA game, and it really takes away from the reality that such a grapple device does not exist in any form on any real world battlefield.
The irony is Mackay has a quicker cooldown than the Pathfinder for the magic grapple hook...the had to limit it more in APEX than BF 2042, strange, right???

You're saying that ADAD is spam and impossible to hit. Doesn't seem like you're a fan of that or sliding.
I'm aggressive because I hate the trend of people trying to remove anything that makes movement interesting and give players any sort of skill gap. Movement tech is a huge part of Shooters. There's already so many stripped down, slow, tactical shooters out there. There's not a lot of options for good fast paced movement that's satisfying.
- Psubond3 years agoLegend@RaginSam i still think everyone should have the same movement speed in regards to gunplay. abilities are one thing, movement when ADS and such is quite another. idc if they just speed everyone up to match makay instead of slowing him down (or meet in the middle), long as it is the same for everyone
- RaginSam3 years agoSeasoned Ace@Psubond Thats fair and that is kind of the direction it’s going. The gap between Specialist will be a lot closer. I’m looking forward to this change.
- UP_Plumber3 years agoSeasoned Ace@RaginSam Well of course I'm not a fan of a movement that makes you borderline impossible to hit without much input. All you do is spam two buttons. Where's the skill in that? On the other side, your enemy has to have a really good and trained aim in order to win that fight. See how that is unfair?
Sliding and slide canceling is another thing. Its risky and harder to pull off because you're going at high speeds thus requiring you to have a spot on aim during that short moment while you're flying after a slide cancel. - ElliotLH3 years agoHero+@Ironhead841 I'm curious about the last two and will see how the MacKay change pans out. I reckon toning Nimble down a bit will be OK though as he's still got the ability to Spiderman to places.
Yeah, none of the Mackay stuff bothers me too much, I am looking forward to the Vault weapon's improvements though.
- @Psubond Exactly. No one should have increased movement speed when walking/running/aiming down site when on the ground (something like on ziplines or fast reloading is fine); everyone's movement speed should be equal. The past year of Macksweat has been proof that this balance is necessary.
It's like armor: armor should only be available as a gadget to equip, not a passive ability. Angel became balanced when his armor passive was removed, same will soon happen to Irish.
