Match making broken?

how and why in the hell do we end up getting put together in matches with the same hacks, and trash talkers? Seriously, out of the how many thousands of players? And two different versions of 2042? It’s pretty ridiculous when you get players calling you out by your gamertag in the chat, from right out the get.

anyone have any logical explanation for this? Cause bf1 was pretty balanced but after that it just went down the hill.

  • BF1 has been all the rage within the available games in the franchise since the start of this year.

Unfortunately data on global player base on BF2042 is not available for these charts (only the Portal modes).

Alethes  where's that chart from? The only player count chart I know of is Steam Charts, which only tracks PC players on Steam.

Steam Charts peak number of players over the last 24hrs:

    • Battlefield 2042 = 4,974
    • Battlefield V = 10,567
    • Battlefield 1 = 9,849
    • Battlefield 4 = 1,328
    • Battlefield 3 = 180

As RanzigeRidder2 said, DICE using matchmaking and splitting the player base over multiple game modes and special events is definitely an issue.

I would be playing on PS5 with PC crossplay turned off due to PC having a high number of cheaters compared to console. I'd be willing to console crossplay with Xbox players. PC crossplay only with a PC invite.

That's how APEX Legends handles crossplay. I've read the newest CoD BLOPS 6 game also has console only crossplay. Hopefully game companies are starting to understand their customer preference.

Probably some API based tracker site. Keep in mind though that those sites only get a vertical slice as it has to get info from those who use the site and then those players they play with and it networks out a bit from there but can only go so far.

Interesting. There seems to be twice as many PlayStation players in Battlefield than Xbox players, and 2.5x more PC players than PlayStation players.

I'm surprised by how many more PC players there are compared to console players. Thanks for sharing the statistics.

I don’t know how they do it. But I do agree there are more non Xbox players than not. I can’t tell cause I have a one S and no serious interest in a next gen game. But rest of the crew can see if they’re PlayStation or computer too.

I didn’t mean thousands as in tens or much less hundreds of thousands. Like the experiences we’ve seen and noticed sure makes it seem like there’s at most 5k-10k players; and 10k is pushing it. But we mainly see, deal and get stuck with said players in regular conquest matches.

It's just down to raw stats. Xbox generally gets outsold by Playstation, and Battlefield is one of those "PC shooters" when you look at it. There are arguably more enticing options for the consoles so when we have the ratios it kinda pans out.

That said NONE of us beyond EA would actually know the true pop, and we likely never will.

  • Hi, same problem with me. I try uninstalling and installing the game again; it works. I'm using Steam; maybe you can try it.
