Please no Tracer Rounds

Just wanna get the feedback here, I've gone back to BF1 AND BFV a bit, even with the hackers ☹️

And the strangest thing in both of these games is the amount of weapons that have tracer rounds in them, it seems like every weapon, why do SMG's have tracer rounds?

Went back to BF4 and no tracer rounds, it feels way more realistic. Tough to tell from the 2042 trailers but hopping they left the tracers in the past....

  • 100% agree, although funnily enough for a 2042 game it would make more sense, but i still don't want them.

I like the concept of being slightly into the future like they are doing, but i dont want any of this star wars gun stuff.

Happy for some cool customization camos and stuff, but nothing "too crazy".

  • @Darth_Flave  Realism.  Due to the time period, tracer rounds were more heavily used in those settings.  They are still useful today for seeing where your rounds are going.  In WW1, machine guns were sometimes used as indirect fire weapons as well as direct fire weapons.  As such, seeing where your rounds were going was crucial for tactical planning.

I love tracer rounds, it's like my own personal light/firework show

  • Tracer rounds would be fine if they work like tracer rounds, not like a laser. While they should be visible from behind and perhaps the side, they should not blind people being shot at (in fact if falling near them should not be visible).

The whole idea is to see where your rounds fall or mark targets for your side. It would be great to see that as a feature, rather than firing balls of light that blind people.

Agreed, plus in modern battlefields you'd see them more often.

(given I served in '98-'03 so I'm not sure how the kids play today in real life battlefield)

@rouvio 4:1 tracer mix is still standard for today's armies.  I remember seeing NATO red and Soviet green tracers at night in one engagement in Iraq ...pretty cool.
