Unless DICE does something drastic.In a matter of weeks/months, DICE will understand the reasoning behind it's success, as they are usually slow to understand these things. Earn money through skins, cosmetics and your specialists in Hazard Zone.All Out Warfare can be left as it is, considering players from other games really enjoyed the mode or maybe tweak it to be balanced.Portal mode requires more content (maps, vehicles, etc) from previous games like BF1 and 2142.It's the most balanced approach and the one with maximum revenue for you if you're into that :P

@Blackidus I think the majority of the focus on Portal is from the existing BF player base, and the other games modes will pull in the CoD/Fortnight/Apex kids that are already conditioned for microtransactions.

@TheFireOfTitan I see Portal as an excuse to many Battlefield Veterans for the Specialists in All-out Warfare.Similar to kids birthday parties, where grandma and granddad come for coffee and cake in the afternoon, and the kids party starts in the evening.

If COD vanguard is better than many think it will be along with Halo in December, Portal could be the mode with majority player base. However if those games mentioned are not good, then I could see the other modes in 2042 gaining steam. Of course 2042 has to work also. Lots of moving parts so things can shift either way really.COD comes out tonight I think so all eyes on its release.

@TheFireOfTitan I'd rather they not make Hazard Zone F2P because we don't need unlimited testing accounts for companies that make illicit gaming chairs like we saw happen in Warzone. The other games in Hazard Zone's genre such as Tarkov are also not F2P so there's no reason to make make it F2P for market parity.Portal will most likely be the main event for a number of reasons such as the very divisive Specialist issue, the classic maps that are not in AOW, as well as the classic weapons, vehicles, and gadgets that are not in AOW that you may want use. Regarding other modes such as AOW and Hazard Zone dying I'll quote Ivan Drago from Rocky IV "If he dies, he dies." Perhaps that would spur DICE to make course corrections on those modes to make them more popular with Battlefield's long time playerbase.

I'd argue portal is Dice not being completely looney and realizing the specialist concept is a big gamble, and portal is a failsafe and not a "love letter", just someone going "this is a pretty big gamble, and we can offset it".
*If* portal turns out to be more successful, i suspect we'll see an expanded portal mode as the core for the next game and new game types being relegated to second billing rather than how core is marketed for this title.
Either way, we won't know much of anything until the game has launched and we've had a good amount of time to judge core and see what the metrics look like between modes, first few months are going to be a honeymoon period no matter how long-term viable portal or core is.

@TheFireOfTitan Portal is not a problem at all especially if it is the most popular thing ever 🙂 (Because then it's more likely they will add more maps to it and have Portal in future games)

Just think about it.

You still have to get the Full Game regardless even if it's just to play Portal.

In the end it doesn't matter which part of the game is more popular as long as people are buying the game in general 🙂

@Fringerunner Swedish government? In regards to alcohol? I doubt that honestly, unless compared to countries where alcohol is completely banned.

I think Portal is the future of BF. I think the Specialists and the lukewarm work on the "core" game is evidence of this. I think we will see a pivot towards Portal as a live service that will include paid content updates for new maps, factions, vehicles, weapons, Specialists, etc. It makes sense for EA and it will make sense for old and new BF fans too. I think BF fans are very nuanced and diverse (in regards to playstyles) more so than other franchises like COD. BF fans want a mix of playstyles in a kind of sandbox. I would happily pay a subscription or pay for dlc if that is the case. I can't wait to see what content from previous titles like BF2, BF Vietnam, BF 2142, BF 4 and and BF1 make it to Portal.

I have some - very very foggy - memories of rambling in the alleys of Helsingør until early morning, having a breakfast "danish" at some early bakery and then getting on the boat home.
I think drunk Swedish teens were considered a plague in Helsingør back then.
It was a lot cheaper with that stuff in Denmark back then, and there were a constant stream of swedish school classes partying like their lives depended on it.

@carsono311 I think that enabling monetization for content creators will need to be a key point. If content creators can make money off selling in-game lipstick, they will give it more exposure, draw in more who are interested or curious and add revenue. The problem there is that is not free-to-play so there is a threshold. The other is that players that have been drawn in, and seeks a competitive game, will be faced with too many choices / variations. If they seek to prove their skills to others, they need an apple-to-apple comparison, or that will not satisfy. Hazard Zone may offer that, but I think that will not be the case for Portal.

@Blackidus Yup...I've posted a response to another post similar to this. If players don't buy enough battlepasses to keep the money flowing post launch then I don't expect them to keep feeding portal with additional maps, etc. via the live service.

@TrasteTh I was going to write up something regarding the law vs when people actually start drinking and what the police tend to do about it, but seeing some of your other posts along with knowing where Cyberdyme is from, i don't think we need to go down that road.

I'll simply say i'm very happy Svinesund is where it is, or i'd have to pay local prices for general (and in my younger years other things), and after more than 10 years of having to get it mailed to the states, now that the border is open again I'm quite happy to make the hour trip or so vs paying 90ish NoK for a can.

And then there's that wonderful ferry to København that counts as international waters for a few hours! (speaking of people being sick of seeing drunk tourists)
