Re: Get RID of the wall hack. The worst!

@R1ckyDaMan19 It already does... be creative. Think like a dev. There's plenty of ways to balance it. Like many have said, you can limit the range, increase the cool-down, decrease the amount of time people are highlighted. So many options.

@0_oRage In the footage I have seen it shows people through hard cover, there is nothing to balance, it should not do that full stop.

@R1ckyDaMan19 I think that this is the way they designed it, so it should indeed do that.
Maybe some don't want it to do that, but that is a different thing.

@0_oRageI remember back in the day, when the devs for chess (the board game) released a new version, where the knight suddenly could jump over other pieces. The whole chess community went NUTZ, it was so unrealistic, and it was like cheating. The knights were already OP AF with their weird movement pattern!
The devs did some patches and nerfed the knights to only have a limited range.
Many of the old seasoned players canceled their pre orders and never returned to the game ever again.
Eventually the whole thing settled down and now no one speaks about it any more. I still think they are a bit OP, but the devs are not listening to the community any more.

@R1ckyDaMan19 That's what I said. I agreed, it does go through "hard" cover. You want it to spot people in the open?! That seems redundant and useless lol.

Again, try to be a little creative. There's ways to balance it. There's ways they can nerf it into the ground if they wanted to. Stop crying about something you haven't even used yet.

The only time I would disagree with this mentality would be when Bungie launched Stasis in Destiny 2. Freezing mechanics do not belong in FPS games. Wall-hacks can be balanced.

@TrasteTh That's why I play "real" chess. None of this castling, en passant, promotion, knights flying, or any other funny business.

@0_oRageBush campers? Dark corner campers? There are loads of situations where having enemies highlighted would be useful.

Wanna balance it? Make the user visible in bright red to all enemies within the abilities range.

    High risk, high reward...

Give a grenade type usable by all specialists that renders all tech useless with a certain range, or a static device like a tug that emits waves scrambling tech nearby.

    Creative enough?

Everything, and I mean everything needs a viable counter.

I don't see a massive problem with it myself assuming range, cooldown and duration etc are at sensible levels but these can be tweaked.

After all, BF4 had far more spotting methods and we all want a return to BF4 right?

Whatever happens though, let's hope BF2042 doesn't become the hardcore light game BFV did and excessive nerfing/removing of mechanics such as this is a step in that direction.

We all know what happened to BFV.....

@Trokey66 I didn't play BFV the first year, so I'm not sure if that's when some of this odd balancing stuff happened. Right now I think BFV is really well balanced. Spotting is limited, TTK feels just right, I love everything about it honestly besides the setting. It's not bad or anything, but I love my modern sights.

@Trokey66 Well everyone had the ability to spot, now only people playing that specialist can, although I see where you are coming from.

@Trokey66  BF4 didn't have a literal wallhack though. We had the optional spotter gadgets on carbines that you had to ADS to spot enemies with, the MAV, TUGs, and the sensor ball that used an audible sound and shows on the minimap. All of those were far more balanced than a wallhack.  I think the 2142 version of the gadget would be far better to use and far more balanced https://battlefield.fandom.com/wiki/DysTek_Pulse_Meter

@Trokey66 In the new video they used 2 pulses, It was said it can be used up to 3/4 times. Terrible. Just go with the ping system on tac map of last location and it disappears. This is unneeded. Imo.

@JRiv_Eagle Or perhaps you set up a portal server with no spotting?

Spotting is a 'core' mechanic in BF that is needed for teamplay and to aliviate some visibility issues.

    My opinion of course.

@Trokey66 I get it and totally understand. By scope and pin point accuracy yes. Not wall hack. Imo.

@ragnarok013 You forgot a light fart putting you on the mini map as well.....

From an information point of view, a red dot, dorito or red outline has no fundamental difference at the end of the day. The player presented with any form of this information still has to decided how to deal with the threat and in most circumstances, I doubt the red outline will influence that decision in any real way.

@R1ckyDaMan19 From the latest video, it would also appear to be an individual 'perk' with the outlines visible to the player only.

I may be wrong but the fact that it is 'glasses' supports that assumption.

I do genuinely think this is another knee * reaction to something we don't know enough about. Nerfing/buffing anything before release (especially as not in the Beta) is wrong in my opinion.

@Trokey66 I think there is a difference between a stationary dorito (the 2142 version'd dorito didn't move like traditional 3D spotting it was more akin to BF5's ping spotting) and the red shadow from 2042 because a dorito only showed last known position whereas the red shadow n in 2142 shows player position, orientation and movement so you have real time intelligence on which way he's facing, and his continuously updated position while the ping is active.  Even if Paik's scanner used the traditional 3D spotting dorito that moved you still don't know which way the enemy is facing and how exactly he is hiding just his direction of movement or non-movement which IMO is still more balanced than Paik's current ability.

Look at this 18th century OG gamer. True story by the way. I looked it up.
