Just one note: the 60$ game on Xbox mentions that it includes only compatible with XSX.
And as for the battlepass I thought that all maps/specialist will be free for everyone right?
I still can't decide if the Battlepass is worth it. I bought APEX battlepass once and I always put in the hours so I can have enough coin for the next one without needing to pay again.

As I wrote, then it is only the GOLD and ULTIMATE EDITIONS that contains the full cross-gen package for you!
While the cheapest baseline version that you refer to there does not. So the cheap baseline version will only be valid for the specific console that you bought it for.
You can clearly compare and observe this when checking on the Xbox store:
From what I understand then all maps will be available to all. But the (incl future) specialists are belonging to each of the battlepass/seasons that will be released going forward. This is also obvious when looking at the license options for sale now: "Year 1 Pass: 4 New Specialists (1 per Season), 4 Battle Passes (1 per Season)".
When buying the GOLD or the ULTIMATE editions, then you get already the pass to the first four seasons expected to be released during year 1. And you can clearly see that the specialists are each connected as one new Specialist for each season. I would as minimum expect that EA have planned 4 years out, so we will see 16 specialists being released going forward. Expect therefore also some specific season/year passes to coming out as 'add-ons' gong forward. (I am not judging if this is an acceptable 'pay to win' model or not. But yes, it will add to total price if wanting them all).
@DaizerNation One thing you need to understand is, Apex Legends is a free to play game from the get go and a different company that develops it. No one has to buy it to play. The battle pass and subsequently those that play it and earn whatever the currency is, in it, that they use to unlock the next battle pass is technically money still being generated towards their game to continue developing it.
Like someone previously mentioned above, the "battle pass" for 2042 will be more like the BF4 Premium Edition rather than a battle pass. And Dice even said that the battle pass will be exactly like BFV's. All skins. Dice also said the game will be like BFV, cross platform multiplayer, kind of like how CoD:MW and such is. PC/PS/XB players all being able to play together.

Thanks a lot..
Any articles or videos to confirm this? Thanks again 🙂
@CyberDyme I think it is worth clarifying that all in game 'hardware' will be free to all ie, the Specialists themselves are at no additional cost. It is only extra cosmetic items that are 'exclusive' to paid Battlepasses.

I cannot say that I am 100% absolute certain, as its also contradicting to what some EA reps shared like 6 months back. But reallity now is what they present to the public and what is written on the 3 different license options they are promoting in all online stores now for pre-ordering: So the same setup/conditions for all 3 platform, PC, xbox and playstation. And we have the standard baseline edition (or actually two of them) one for the old gen consoles and one for the new gen consoles. The old console version is approx $10 cheaper than the new gen version. (64 players vs 128 players, is the EA justification for that...?)
Next you have the GOLD EDITION and the ULTIMATE EDITION.
And for these 'higher end' editions they clearly write more is contained by default, beyond the base game, which is how they refer to it for the cheapest edition license:
So from here, it is obvious that the Specialists are linked to the seasons, and thereby to the battlepasses that you need to buy for access to each season that you want to take part in. So yes, you get access to all the baseline play with the baseline edition of the game pack. But it strongly hints towards that you one way or the other need to buy the Battle Passes to get access to the Specialists!
Maybe you can grind your way to qualify for those specialist someway in the game? I dont know, as its not been shared yet by EA how this really works in the new game.
But their monetization model here does not hint towards that being so.
One might say the same when looking back at Gold, Silver and Bronze battlepacks in BF4? Like who would want to pay for any of those, but still some do. Likewise with the Assault-, Support, Engineer- or Recon- kits. While most veterans we didnt even care much to open them as we earned them through the gameplay alone.
The judge is still out on the BF2042 payment models I think, until we get more proper details from EA on the connected game components/mechanics...?
Personally I would prefer a Premium one time payment and then be done with it. And definitely no pay-to-win schemes. But that is maybe too much to ask for in these modern times???
@CyberDymeIn BF1 you don’t get access to i.e. the Fedorov Avtomat unless you buy the expansion it’s in. You can’ just grind your way to it. So locking important game stuff behind a pay wall happened in BF1. I don’t like it but there’s nothing to do about it, I guess, apart from not buying the game in the first place.
I have pre-ordered, coz I know I am going to buy it sooner or later anyhow. But, I would tend to agree, that I've parted with my money with not a lot of detail about the product I'm buying. Can't think of any other context where I would part with the best part of £100 with such little detail about the thing I have purchased.
Like I've said before, Dice/EA have enviable customer loyalty - they could make more of that by developing and supporting their community. Its something most companies would give their right arm for but as a BF vet I'm not really feeling the love. They are part of a creative industry and at the cutting edge of their technological field, so creative use of technology to support their customer base and give a bit of added-value. Come to think of it, I also subscribe to Origin/EA Play which is a pretty flat product anyways. Hardly pushing out any boundaries.
But so far, all we hear and read from EA, then you have to buy the Battle Pass to 'pay for to' get access to the next season. So maybe wrong, but I take it as implicit that we have to buy the battle passes to access the seasons ahead and thereby also the Specialists being released in them.
I much compare it so far to the DLCs in BF4, where you needed to pay for them to get access to the weapons/gadgets linked directly to each of those DLCs. Like several good assault rifles, like: F2000, the Bulldog, AR160 and the L85A2. Also the MTAR-21 carbine, the DAO-12 shotgun, the AWS and the RPK LMGs, the MPX and MP7 PDWs, and the L115, the GOL Magnum and CS5 sniper rifles. And was it the Deagle 44 and the Unica 6 handguns?
You also had the AA mine and the UCAV which I think was locked behind a certain DLC purchase?
I am not judging it. Just trying to make sense of the limited info that EA have shared so far on their license/payment model for this next game. As this thread is highlighting: Its astounding that EA expect people to flock on top of each other to pre-order based on nothing but a few minutes of video feed and then a vague 10 bullet points product info sticker. :o)
Read It Here, Click Here There are the two above options available for players to choose from. First things first, let's assuage those worries a bit: there is no content locked from the free Battle Pass option. What we mean by that is that there is no meaningful content that is tucked away behind a paywall. That means all players get the same maps, the same Specialists, the same weapons, the same everything. So then, what's the point, you may be asking? Glad you're still with us, dear reader.
@CyberDyme Again, think you have it wrong mate. The only 'additional content' available via Battlepass is cosmetic. I sure it has been confirmed by DICE somewhere.

I hope you are right as I may just be misguided by the persuasive marketing splash that EA have been subjecting me to. :o) All our soldiers could all be running around in pink undies for what I care. I have no need for cosmetics as long as I get access to all the maps and hardware in the game! :o)
@CyberDyme Look at it from this perspective. Those that choose to run around like that will be easy targets to hit. Unless it's the desert map in the storm. If you have battlefield V, you should already be familiar with how they do their battle pass system though.
@lzilchetl I fully agree with you, and I am buying the game either way. I just want to assess my decision.. instead of paying 100$ I would pay 60$
If the battle pass was a one time thing and you can gain coins, there is no need to but year 1 season pass.. I don't know its too confusing and I prefer to wait.
But once it is clarified I will either pre-order the ordinary version for XSX, or the gold..
I really am lost for words as to why people still pre order!
Are people scared they are going to run out of downloads.
Speaking for myself, but suspect that others are the same, its just about being old. I'm gonna buy it anyhows, bought every one from BF2. If I can afford it now I'll get it, in case I can't afford it later. us old'ns do things like that, like pre buying your coffin or paying car tax for the year instead of monthly.
@emerson1975 When you get older, you have something called a budget. When you preorder something, like a game, months in advance, you don't have to worry about spending that money from your budget on said game when it comes out. It could go to something else or be used on something else entirely. Also, with games like Battlefield, you guaranteed into certain things with preordering, like a beta spot, getting access to play it 4 or 5 days earlier than official release, etc, etc.
For example: Battlefield 5 released on November 20th, 2018. Those who preordered the game not only go to play in the beta quite a bit, but the game for them opened up on November 8th, 2018. We got to play it a full 12 days before those that didn't preorder. It's a substantial jump in weapon experience as well as map/location experience. Not to mention knowing the in's and out's of how new mode's worked like airborne.
@MephiticshepardYou are being a bit condescending and patronizing with that post, which makes you harder to empathize with.
I will add to your second paragraph the important point from history where EA DICE put the game on a huge sale almost immediately after the game was released, which gutted the value and worth of the pre-orders... and those who purchased them. So while you mention budgets and then also mention players gaining "weapon experience as well as map/location experience." , I think in hindsight most players would just rather not feel like they were bait-and-switched by EA DICE, instead of gaining experience in an game that was DOA.
@DaizerNation I also encourage waiting till July 22nd. Much more information to make a decision with and the pre-orders will still be available for you if you so choose.
