Re: Railgun tank is way too easy to use

I play air vehicles a lot, and really have no issues with the tanks one shot killing me as I move full speed with the stealth about 10 foot from the ground, and when I air bomb a tank I swing back and forth full speed so if they hit me, they deserve the kill as it takes skill to hit the stealth bobbing and weaving at about 170mph.

Really the solution to air vehicles is the Wildcat, as I get taken out in about 1.5 seconds by one before I can react if I don't see them lurking.  And you can't avoid the Wildcat machine gunner who has great aim as that will take down the paper thin stealth heli instantly.

Honestly the only issue I have with tanks is I'm now getting hit when on my screen the shell misses by 20 feet or more, as shown below where I blew up even though you can see the tank and shell missed by 20 feet.  Even with 42ms ALAT and 50ms LAT, the hit detection and/or server prediction coding is kind of broken, or they made the hit box bigger on the stealth heli than actual size of the aircraft?

So now I tend to avoid tank on the map, and instead focus on the jets and attack helicopters more as it really is not worth the risk of having to have all four bombs hit twice over two runs on a full health tank.  Jeeps and anything smaller I can take out with one run, but not a tank anymore at full health which seems reasonable.  So unless the tank has lost half it's health, not wise to attack one in a stealth heli...

But in avoiding tanks, I end up killing a lot more ground troops herding on the map.  And if your group is marked on the map by any device, I can easily get 3-4 kills per bombing run so pay attention to the sky for the stealth helicopters if your group gets their location marked by any devices.  I've gotten 13 kills in two consecutive bomb runs once on ground players who kept herding in a small 10 foot zone.  Not a good idea if you see a stealth heli.  The wiser groups spread out 10 foot or more and then I have to pick only one player to bomb, and that is a waste of time as it takes a while to get the bombs back.

In summary, avoid "marked" herds of players closely grouped out in the open when the stealth heli is close...or this will happen:

@DeepSixxxxYou can wobble as much you want and fly low. When you are going for enemy AC, you are occupied killing him which makes you to rise altitude. That's the moment when poof happens and you realize, you got obliviated from across the map and can't stay still even for 2 seconds. Right now its not that bad, give it 2-3 months when people learn to use it.

EDIT: About that shell going by, its latency issue. TV missiles do the same.

@PsubondIf I'm flying low in the stealth helis and not moving around a lot, the railgun does a LOT of damage and then I'm in trouble as my stealth turns off and if I have already flared, I'm usually dead on a open map. I've learned to go underwater for a second or two and do front-over loops to avoid the missile locks, you got to get creative once you lose stealth as it has paper thin skin and is worthless without stealth ability.

Basically the railgun damage sets me up to get taken out by a missile after I lose stealth, so a great assist weapon. I probably had 500 assists getting 1200 kills with the railgun, mostly on MAV and the air transports.

Note I don't fly like most stealth guys, I go full speed close to the ground almost 100% of the time, so it is harder to get shot as the speed and maneuverability of the stealth heli is kind of over the top and not realistic to be honest. Yet I see many stealth helis "hovering" and waiting to get taken out in less than two seconds...

I T1ed the Railgun and I did take out a few night birds, a few jets, and a bunch of stealth helis. When you are flying, you can see the railgun tracers so beware as the stealth can drop bombs on your location if you keep shooting, even from 500-600 meters if you are camping too long. I found the best way to take out air vehicles with the railgun is medium distance, 4.5x scope so no scope glint, unload 20 shots and it takes another 5 from full health on the heavy condors, much less on night bird, etc. 6x scope from long distance works great but you have to lead the jet a few feet as your shooting around 800 to 1000 meter at that point and the gun isn't 100% instant at that range...but the railgun melts the jets quick...

With ground vehicles, I avoided the tanks unless they had only 60% or less health as they can heal faster than the railgun can damage. Again use 4.5x scope on jeeps and smaller vehicles, and they have no idea where the shots are coming from versus the air vehicles that show tracers.

The railgun is the "great equalizer". I think it takes about 600 kills before a gamer can really cement their opinion on the weapon. I hope Dice leave it alone as it has limited attachments, a limited 6x scope that scope glints and has fat crosshairs so hard to see targets past 350 meters, the shot delay is extreme so it is one of the most difficult weapons to snipe moving targets yet it takes out campers instantly up to 450 meters. It pesters all vehicles up to around 900 meters, and stops them from camping constantly. Full auto kind of sucks but burst is instant kill if all three shots hit at close to medium range but you HAVE to shoot first or you're dead while holding down the trigger. If they have armor burst kills only on headshot so they have to be somewhat clueless to not kill you instantly as seconds shots take too long close to mid range. A difficult, challenging, and fun weapon for Season 3...

@Man_iLoveFishing I'm not the best stealth heli but do have both close to 60 mastery level. I don't fly like most pilots, so when I attack AC I light them up with the chain gun first, then I go stealth, rise above, and drop the bombs on them. Same with transports as it both keeps me from getting locked on in air battles and takes them out with instantly. It takes a while to learn the drop angles, and your relative speed is critical when dropping bombs in first person view.
I only engage night birds, other stealth helis, and the jets with missile locks outside of stealth mode. So far, only the night birds give me a headache, and maybe a top 1% jet pilot or a pilot that uses the chain gun instead of warning me with a missile lock on to go stealth mode. On the ground, Wildcats are demons to be avoided at all costs...

@DeepSixxxx You really won't get much on top of AC when you are spotted tho. It takes only 2 rocket hits. And yeah, little bird is hard to kill especially alone. I usually fly bird but now felt taking brake and went back to Stealth. But I agree on flying low and in full speed, I do that always and fly really close to objects. Also feels satisfying. And also I finally got used to my settings, I use based on rifle aim settings. Gives me good accuracy with mg pods and great way to control chopper.

@Man_iLoveFishing Since day one the visible and open spawn bases and vehicles appearing in mid air have been an issue in 2042. The rail tanks range wouldn’t be the issue it is if Dice had looked back at last games and seen why they were around corners, and had automated AA, etc. Better map design would solve a plethora of issues including yours.

@UP_Hawxxeye Yah once a player figures it out, it’s not like it’s hard to figure vehicle spawn locations, then it’s simply a matter of time and patience. At least randomize the vehicle spawn locations around a bit.
