I thought the point in a live service was to drip feed new content each week like bfv. If this is all season 1 is (1 map, 2 weapons, 1 specialist, and 2 helis) the game will die again before season 2. Is it really too much to ask for a new weapon every week or something relevant. Cosmetics don't change gameplay at all. I know asking for another map before season 2 would be too much to ask for. But how hard is it to add a few weapons. Or even give us a few from portal since we never get to use them. Or .... Start season 2 after 6 weeks. Something to keep it interesting and keep people playing. This doesn't seem like enough content for 12 weeks

@SCUBASTEVE120 Then people complain the weapons are too similar and DICE is lazy : PThey're working on some of the Portal guns coming to AOW (no specifics), but it still requires more work than just "Ctrl-C -> Ctrl-V", both because they're moving it to a different part of the game and they have to build out the functionality of AOW weapons with attachments etc. for those guns plus progress tracks etc.DICE just set themselves up for failure by launching a flawed, incomplete game, and apparently with bad tools to make quick changes, so they're still struggling to catch up and release content despite the studio being "all in" on 2042.

@SCUBASTEVE120The simple answer is yes, it is too much. DICE/EA's objective is to deliver what they are legally required to and no more. If they release Season 2 early, then they can't really fulfill a "year's worth of content." If I were a betting man, they have accepted player numbers to go no higher than 15K and as low as 2K (Steamcharts reference numbers) throughout the lifespan of the game (which ends in about 11 months for the looks of it). You MIGHT see some portal weapons show up mid-Season 2, but really the name of the game is placation and bug/map design fixes. When the very leader of the organization says "We want to be a powerhouse in the FPS market in 3 years time," that tells me they are hedging their bets on the next Battlefield which is totally taking up the lion's share of devs at DICE even with the public face of "all hands on deck" for 2042.

@SCUBASTEVE120 A new weapon every week is a pretty massive undertaking, dude. Unless they've got a bunch already in full-production that are basically done, that's an immense amount of work to do and not remotely reasonable. At least if we want to have fun, interesting, or fully functional guns.

More broadly though yes, the pace of content seems to be the best that DICE can do with 2042 and the tools they have to work with it, even with the studio being "all in" on the game. I fully expect next season to be a single map, single specialist, and a few weapons/vehicles as well. Why? Because they're still finishing core development on the game after rushing it out incomplete, hence why we're getting movement improvements and more this season.

They're working on bringing over a few Portal guns, they announced it before S1 dropped. But that takes some time to update them so they work in AOW with all the weapon attachments and progression systems (plus skins and whatnot). I'm bummed they haven't dropped yet and that DICE hasn't said anything about when to expect them, but at least they're coming.

Real though, I don't think folks really understand how insane expectations of new playable content - maps or weapons and whatnot - every WEEK is.

assuming they aren't taking the franchise away from DICE and only keeping enough poeple at DICE to finish what they are legally required to

@SCUBASTEVE120 The live service is the cosmetic bundles you can pay for.

We are not getting any additional real content other than the 25% seasonal drop.

You are correct though, the player count will be back down to pre S1 levels in a few weeks. We are already down 50% since the drop and we are not even 4 full weeks in.

@Psubond That could also explain why they are saying "all of DICE's focus is on 2042." Maybe they lost "the contract" for the next Battlefield and it is being headed up by another crew (Whatever team Zampala's called the group he's leading to make the next one) with EA's resources diverted to them.

@SCUBASTEVE120 for DICE this is like asking for world-peace 100% infinite green energy for every corner of the world and christmas and easter falling on the same day...
the studio is in shambles and everyone knows it, this " live-service" is just a way to muffify the corpse long enough so the smell gets overshadowed by all the salt

@-DFA-Thump With this on their track record I don't see them ever being "the powerhouse of fps shooters" like they use to be I feel like it's been some what of downhill now they seem to struggle to win the players over. Like with bfv. Even though I love bfv most players didn't.

@edgecrusherO0 Wishful thinking I guess. I didn't think it would be to hard to add weapons. Reskin and tweak a current one to make a new one. Like the pbx and mp9 are similar. Sfar m gl and ak 24 share similarities. Bring the acwr to AOW and make it an m5a3 reskin basically. Tweak it. Same attachments. I feel the game is playable. Especially once the redesign the old maps. If by the end of the games life cycle we have like 36 weapons or less this game won't have a permanent population like it's predecessors. I mean I still play bf3 on ps3 sometimes talk about top notch quality game. Makes me melt when I play it 😍
