Shotguns. when and how do you use them in BF2042

Question

I have always loved shotguns in battlefield and really want to continue to use them in 2042 but im finding it difficult and not sure the reasons.

Going between flags on 2042 can be difficult with a shotgun against others with any other weapon in the big open spaces between the flags,&nbsp;Specially if there is no option for a vehicle&nbsp;spawn.

I think the damage drop off is a bit much even in some close quarters encounters. Dont get me wrong im aware that shotguns shouldnt be to overpowered in mid to long rage engagements but i think it could hit a little harder in those situations to make the other player re think what there doing.&nbsp;

Maybe i just need to change my play style with shotguns.

What are your thoughts and opinions?

I am using shotgun, mostly pump shotgun and me personally have no problem with using it.

Running flechette ammo and using Paik specialist, M44 as secondary for longer range.

There is a QoL I would like to see for the shotgun though, cancel reload.

My playstyle is running from point to point, if it's a larger point or more flags in same area, I defend the whole area.

Using Paik's ability I can prepare myself for the combat.

Nice&nbsp; :D&nbsp; &nbsp;im glad to hear that your doing well with it :D&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;i think its defo my play style, im using sundance at the moment as the wing suit and grenade belt are really fun.&nbsp; &nbsp; I will for sure try out paik and the M44 next time i boot up and play.i think the other shells (which im yet to unlock) will do a good difference to the standard rounds.&nbsp; &nbsp; Cancel reload really does need to happen.nice one Nemic its good to hear your thoughts.

@benjium Thanks, I have tried Sundance too, which was fun to play with.
I have always played aggressive, no matter what weapon I use, assault, sniper or shotgun, already have that mindset. I also slide alot to close the distance between me and my enemies.

I mainly run MCS-880 and I haven't notice much of a change between the ammo types, tried slug which for me underperform, so if you want to use more of a "ranged" shogun, lever action shotgun is the way to go.

Other than that, buckshot #4 which has faster reload and fire rate but worst range, is good start if you get it unlocked.

You dont, you put a short range sight on a marksman rifle and have better results.
