With all the talk being that console players want crossplay with consoles only and getting rid of those disgusting cheating PC players should the next game release be console based only?I will say upfront that I am one of those PC players so obviously I must be a cheater but this is not what the question is about. I only state it to be transparent and that I am only asking the question and not trying to ignite another of those long winded debates that these forums seem to thrive on. If you answer this question or participate in this thread feel free to simply state one of the three options listed below and leave it at that.Who knows, if enough people respond to this then it may give EA and Dice a sort of benchmark to help decide if the next release is console based only. @CascadiaSRL I personally would choose option #3 A console only version and a PC only versionOriginally, I couldn't care less about cross-play one way or another but after reading the forums here and on Reddit as well as Twitter, obviously, a lot of console players don't want to play with PC players because PC players apparently have an unfair advantage because of mouse and keyboard or god-like superpowers because we use PCs or all PC players are cheaters blah, blah, blah.It's tiresome and I say just give them what they are asking for.As a PC player I personally don't think any sort of "aim-assist" belongs in any FPS period full-stop, and I honestly don't believe they'll ever get the net-code figured out between the two and I think consoles are holding back what could be achieved with this game if they had a PC-only version the number of assets and "levolution" per map would be significantly higher as well as much more detailed.

No.It should return to its roots and be PC only.One of the main reasons this franchise continued to sink is due to the fatal consolitis it had contracted many years ago, and here we are, finally at its death bed.That started with Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3. Both of those games, while technologically superior, had far inferior gameplay and functionality. People don't even remember just how many features were absent from Battlefield 3 when it was released nor the fact that there was an uproar from the PC community because of it. No commo rose, anyone? Then there's introduction of Rush and the awful map design that came with Bad Company. Now the majority of these games are filled with smaller scale, funnels of maps. No wonder the large, conquest maps suck in this. They've forgotten how to make them years ago. The people that did? They are clearly no longer employed by them.The fact that a lot of people are complaining about vehicles in a game that's build its reputation on featuring large scale, sea, air and ground vehicle combat? Well, what further evidence does one need that this franchise is dead?

Should the next Battlefield game be console only?

Don't have a strong opinion either way on cross play.
The real issue is that Dice keep balancing games based on Breakthrough or Conquest, mostly Breakthrough.
That's just illogical.
So the question should be, should Dice create 2 games in one?
One for Conquest and one for Breakthrough or whatever the Rush variation happens to be.
Of course they won't, just like they will not go console only and miss out on those PC sales.

@Tank2042Man I get what you are saying but right now I am interested more in what the general player base would truly desire for the next release. Of course we all know that there will never be a console only release due to the incredible drive for profit over fun to keep the stockholders fat, rich and happy.

I really would like to see the result since I am giving everyone here the virtual power to actually make a difference if only on paper.

@CascadiaSRL You are talking about things that couldn't be changed technically for the current title. Matchmaking is software after all.
I pretty much believe we weren't in this mess, when the BF2042 client wouldn't default to cross play.

So my answer is Console and PC with better matchmaking, or a clean rental server program.

It comes down to different people playing the same game with different rules.
I already have issues to understand what other pc players are capable of or not, and it becomes more difficult with console players and all the aim assist related mechanics.

I'm pretty sure that an XSX/PS5 exceeds the ability of DICE's min spec PC requirement. Series S is something like a 1060 and the min PC spec listed for 2042 is a 1050ti.
Also from another perspective I believe console outsells PC 4:1. A shared console version probably justifies more dev dollars. So even if console is holding PC back technically, it is probably giving a boost in the area of content/quality.

I play on PC and I don't see any PC cheaters, at all. The biggest problem are console "cheaters" with insane aim assist. They get headshots left and right. No skill involved. Just wave your pointer and press fire at random. Amazing gameplay.
But the crossplay should stay and it's an amazing feature. It allows community and player base to grow. In previous BF games, with no crossplay, it was really hard to play at night for example. Only like one map where people run and gun like aholes in those bullet ridden clusterfs. I bet you miss those.
