- G-Recons4 years agoSeasoned Ace@Flavin913 for me that is the minimum since I was asking for Ghost Recon Breakpoint's level of customization minus the cheesy skins there
We all hate the current soldier selection as specialist. Perhaps a black female that wants to use the grappling hook doesn’t wanna run around the map looking like Mackay. The specialist are extremely bad and the lines (after the game) are even worse. It has such a arcade (unrealistic) feel that kills the immersion of a all out war triple A game. I think if we could pick soldiers that we enjoy playing with and choose our special ability (like a wing suit) it would change everything. I would settle for simply changing the heads out on the different specialist with some of the soldiers from portal. It’s just very un-realistic to see 4 Mackay characters in the same vehicle (especially when he is such a annoying character to start with). Having to play with these cheesy characters have killed the realistic feel that Battlefield has given in past titles. Simply more variety (helmets, tops, pants, boots) and a choice of different looks for characters would make the community very enthused.
I remember, before the game came out, that people have concerns about the problem of clones on both sides due to the nature of 2042 now being a hero shooter.
We were given a grandiose promise that customization would have so much depth it wouldn't matter.
Guess we'll chalk that up as another lie.
I think what most people wanna say.. is get rid of these clown characters and give us the option to choose some more realistic soldiers. Dice EA could then sell us all kinds of skins, camo, head gear, jackets, pants, etc.
I don’t believe anyone will spend a single dime on these current cheese-ball characters
I don't know... Honestly I just want EA/Dice to get up off their lazy bums and fix the garbage they released too early because it is still broken as heck and missing everything there is about a battlefield Game... I went back to play Call of Duty Modern Warfare last night because I couldn't bring myself to play anymore of this Garbage. Mind you I HATE call of duty... I only been playing it because all my battlefield buddies and I needed something to play while we waited for this Disaster of a game to come out. @EA_Blueberry I know you're not the man in charge and this is by no means your fault or problem, but please pass the word up the chain to the big wig idiots at EA that next time they build a battlefield Game, keep the battlefield stuff in it and less of whatever it is they all did. I've been a battlefield player for 20 years, this is the most disappointed I've ever been. The Game should've taken place after BF4 and continued that ARC leading up to the next game (2142)... That would've made the most sense. Have them read these forum posts on what is missing, over 100+ items missing from this game that was in the last 3 Battlefield titles... Should've listened to the experienced DEV's who knew what the game needed to be and listened to feedback.
Sorry, Rant over...

I agree
This exactly. Heroes don't belong in Battlefield
BF5's character customization was great!
I wish 2042 took the BF5 character system and expanded it.
I love making a character that is unique to me.
I dislike specialist.
I hate the "hero character" approach. I also hate the sci-fi gimmick / gadget focus if I'm going to be honest.
Ideally, I would have liked basic classes as there were before but in either case, I'm with those who would rather see a more customizable approach to your own character(s). For a company that touts inclusiveness, wanting everyone to express who they are and representing those from various walks of life, I find these hero characters extremely shallow and very limiting in that regard.
IMO, if this is something they were truly passionate about, it should have been a no-brainer to include basic customizable features like skin color, hair styles, voices, gender, race, etc. Allow players to express themselves through their characters. The ability to choose all of these things assures that ALL players can be represented and better identify with their avatars in game. .....and the more connected a player feels with their in-game character, the more likely they would be willing to buy MTXs to accessorize them.
....which brings me to my next point that has been brought up by the OP and others. There should be the ability to change individual components of the player's outfits, kit, camo, etc. I would also think there would be much more opportunity for EA / DICE to profit from a model like this as they could sell individual pieces of gear, sets and so on vs. what are essentially hero character skins. As it is, I feel zero connection with these characters let alone and interest in playing dress up with them.
It really has me scratching my head as the industry realizes just how important character customization is to a lot of players. People can spend hours setting up their characters in games that support these features. There is a lot of opportunity there to cash in on its popularity. IMO, its a win-win scenario. People can create their characters the way they want and EA / DICE can make some money on offering unique items and shortcuts to grinding for others.
- G-Recons4 years agoSeasoned Ace@CLEMSONU Yea it's immersion killing things that can be fixed with some more work , if you have the freedom of choice in characters , would you be happy to see new faces hairstyles helmets etc. In the battle pass ?
