Just like so many others, I think it’s now the end of the real BF. I’m an older gamer, BF3, BF4 we’re the best. My friends won’t play 2042 and I think I may be done too. I don’t care what y’all think and comment, just wanted to get my input out here for Dice and EA to hopefully see. This game has gone the wrong direction, it is sad to see. I will never pre-order a game again and won’t buy another BF game again as long as it’s going this direction with Specialist and so much missing that has made BF the best game series I’ve ever played. If they head to the " hero shooter" that have been announced lately for the future of the franchise for me its gonna be the nail in the coffin. I understand they want thier share of kiddos from those free to play magical mechanics popular shooters battle royale style but battlefield is not free!! Those popular games are extremly popular because THEY ARE FREE in the first place! With bf 2042 i think they made it futuristic to be able to add some similar mechanics to copy those other games with magical or unrealistic mechanics fortnite style ect. But the game cost around 60- 120$ from place to places, they wont get those big player numbers with a game that cost that much!! With the direction of the game they have to stop using the BATTLEFIELD name!! They use the legacy of the franchise to boost sales on new games that are not even using the " legacy features" that made Battlefield great !! Its sad that we are now here, with this 2042 wannabe style in a identity crisis that hurts the battlefield franchise legacy!! We need a bf going back to its roots, a bf that will make those hundreds of thousands( maybe millions) of old battlefield enthousiast happy and trust me with the power of social medias and all the franchise will get a big boost of positive reviews and marketing and the sales will follow with it!! Right now its the complete opposite!! The game is on sale right now at almost 40% discount and the player count still continue to drop like a rock i did not notice any new players boost, the game have so much negative vibes all over the internet its not even funny to see a so good franchise getting hammered like it is right now !!

@dbasshooker The biggest problem to me is the introduction of other games, rather than expanding on the potential of the battlefield core mechanics. It's like the developers are trying to be "hip", for lack of a better word - especially when you look at its "battle royale", "operators", and Apex-like playstyle.It wasn't a love letter to battlefield, it was a love letter to other FPS and trying to incorporate the things that provide separation from battlefield.If it was a love letter to Battlefield, it would have encorporated the best elements of previous Battlefield games:* BF3 Maps style,* BF4 levolution (not the trashy storms),* BF1 combat style,* BF2142s Titans, teamplay, and technology,* BFV's movement advancements,* a Mix of classes from all Battlefield encorporating all of the equipment and gadgets that have been the most well recieved.

@CantGetRight No they weren't. Not even close lol. Not like what fans are saying about this one. At least BF3 right from the main menu made you feel like you were in a Battlefield game. The theme songs alone from those older games could inspire you to play.

People were saying the same thing when Bf3 was released. Hell maybe even BF2 so this is nothing new we are hearing. But guess what I guarantee BF will live on.

@CantGetRight yes, and related to BF1942 and BF Vietnam, BF2 brought the most changes ^^

7 Classes (with only one gadget 😉), Commander and unlocking additional Weapon only by levelling aka ranking up…^^ (and you need to choose wisely 😉)

And if I you look closely, I think the unlock system and the one gadget per specialist seems to me that it is a little bit similar to the system which BF2042 has ^^ With Special Forces you also had a grappling hook ^^

"good old times“ 😉 I don't want a remake of BF2 I think this times are over but if they put in Portal I would try it out^^

and I have the same opinion BF will live on ^^

Battlefield will live on but as other games come out the player base may move away to other titles. Hardcore is dead and some of those players have moved on to Post Scriptom or Hell Let Loose. Battlefield needs to put out a great game to have their fan base swell and they are not putting in the effort to make a great game.

Coming from BF2 and playing BF3 or 4 I thought they added way too much to 3 & 4 in terms of weapons and gadgets and stuff. With that said I think that is why I get a BF2 vibe from 2042 in terms of hardly any weapons or maps. Since playing 2042 I use mainly 2 specialists so far and I rotate between 4 of the guns. I know I don't speak for everyone but to me sometimes more is not better.

@CantGetRight You're not wrong, but to me the most important thing about a game isn't Portal (sure its great for customisation, and a lot of us original battlefield players rue for the day for a mod like desert combat to come back), its the main game, which appears to greatly neglect historical battlefield iterations. So yes, I took their comments out of context to highlight my point.

and yes, Portal is a total love letter to BF fans and has huge content from three classic BF Games
I think the Portal Editor is a great tool with huge power and this is one of the kind in BF history and I think one of the kind of in this genre.
If you take your time, you could create so many things and it seems to me that DICE is already add additional things to the rule set editor, and i hope that DICE has more to come for this mode ^^
People already created made gun games also a kind of red light green light squid game mode^^
Man I can’t wait and see what community member will come up in future ^^
