This Game Desperately Needs Console-only Cross-play.

This game desperately needs console-only cross-play.

I should have been less vague in my post, but I thought less was more. Apparently it led to massive assumptions, my bad everyone.

My opinion console users should never be exposed to exploits from the PC community (I'm strictly not talking about how and/ or why someone uses them, but the prevention of someone on consoles never even needing to).

Truth be told, it's my opinion that being forced to cross-play with the PC community splits the player base itself. It's my honest belief that some users just want an honest, fair environment without the slightest chance of someone using exploits from the PC.

I haven't really been playing games lately (I'm super busy with producing and/ or mixing music), but when I do play a game I really can't enjoy video games with forced PC cross-play, I just can't. It's nothing to do with controllers with aim assistance and/ or mouse & keyboard as I play with both. It's solely about having to worry if someone is utilizing exploits.

Some games I don't mind PC to console cross-play, but Battlefield in my opinion is played drastically different between platforms, and it's mostly because people are scared on PC. I don't mean to sound mean with that, I'm just stating that it's my opinion people act differently on PC, like they're scared to do things compared to console players where they just run around and shoot everything that moves.

They truly act differently in my opinion. Sure this could be a long stretch saying that people play differently just because one platform has the chance of someone using exploits, but it's just how I think.

I can't enjoy titles like PUBG, Escape from Tarkov, Rust, DAY-Z, Battlefield, World War 3 at all on PC, but have a blast on console every time. I'm just at a point in my life that gaming is just for enjoyment, and people using exploits totally destroy that notion.

I hope to clear it up a bit.

  • People that want to play Battlefield multiplayer across platforms with their friends seem to always get overlooked in this debate.  Being able to do this has always out weighed any negatives in crossplay for me.

I personally have had no issues with crossplay in Battlefield 2042 as a console player, or maybe I do not care enough to notice them.

  • Are you there EA?Stop Cross Play with PC! Get the Server Browser back! In Asian Servers, turning off the coss play means that players cannot be matched, So Stupid. Why don't you guys learn Apex's Cross Play Solution? And let ps5 ps4 xbox1 xss xsx console players play together !
  • @Skill4Reel   Why can't this cross play system be like apex? Apex's Cross play can perfectly solve these problems. If you want to play with PC, just team up with PC players. If you don't want to play with PC, it will only let you match console players.

  • @Popa2caps You're right, if you want to take the time to replace a piece at a time, use outdated or used parts, sure you can build a PC on the cheap. However, if you go out and build an Up-To-Date, new PC it's 3 times the amount of a new, in box console. (or more) That was my point. I bought all new parts for mine a while back, didn't need the case or PS, but still have a pretty penny in it.

I don't understand your "PC isn't optimized to do lots of different things" statement. Mine will play games, run video and music editing software, stream to the internet, browse the internet, run teamspeak and discord, run the 8 different software installs I need for work, run a backup of itself, and much more. A console is centric around running a game. What am I missing?

@Echo6EchoI used to have a high end gaming rig, but game development was starting to outpace my ability/desire to update it.
So I bought a top-of-the-line laptop (not a gaming one) and a Xbox X. Happy with my decision.
The cost of upgrading a PC, as well as known issues with cheat software, convince me that it was the best solution.

I would bet that I am not alone in making the switch.

I feel like in the long run PC is cheaper. There’s no annual fee for online. You can get games cheaper in my experience. A mid tier PC will stay more current than at least two generations of consoles. Then there’s the proprietary hardware, not being able to use a mouse for all games, flight sticks, or whatever you’re into at the moment.

Even when I didn’t do any maintenance on my old rig, besides cleaning dust, it always ran games way better than the current consoles. You’d think just being designed for gaming it would be rock solid with software, but it’s the same with anything these days. There’s plenty of bugs and odd behaviors you’ll discover.

Finally, you can’t just alt tab and look things up in between rounds, or use a program leisurely in the background.

I really feel there’s no upside to console besides it being cheaper upfront. If gaming is your main hobby though, it’s one the better value hobbies to have. You don’t need to spend a ton to get a lot of use out of it.

There’s at least a dozen more reasons, but this already feels like more than anyone will care to read.

@Skill4Reel Well said. Especially for a game that’s not about competitive rankings.

I do think balancing and networking between platforms is an always ongoing topic, but doesn’t need to be toxic.

I wouldn't focus on the entire sentence of that statement, but the word "optimized". Optimization - the action of making the best or most effective use of a situation or resource.

Windows and/ or Linux based computers are fully capable of accessing and/ or displaying multiple programs provided if you have the hardware, but what they lack is optimization while accessing it. This is however not the same case as an Apple computer and/ or home console.

You can access multiple programs at once on a Windows and/ or Linux based computer, but it's going to waste resources (energy) in some way.

A game console's role isn't about winning in a video game, it's about enjoyment.

  • PC players base always smaller after some time so they fix it with crossplay. Every time I play with crossplay I do not enjoy game. So basically this game is dead for me and many others as we can't find matches for series X at least. Console only crossplay was always good idea ruined by inclusion of PC...
