What's wrong with wanting a server browser. 
Do you really think matchmaking is an improvement?

Can't see anything wrong with having multiple choices. 

There are plenty of other posts stating about Portal etc the hows and whys, and the xp restrictions is a fault of Dice, not the players (also posted about why in other threads).

2042 far from superior if you are comparing to previous BF titles. Hell even Hardline is more BF than 2042. If 2042 didnt have the BF name on it, you wouldnt even know it was meant to be a BF game.

ah, truely a great idea.... if not for some rather glaring issues.

- Portal does not allow for persistent servers so no matter how good your idea is only a small portin will ever be able to see let alone play it at any given time

- Portal is riddled with just as many glaring issues as 2042... to the point where the spread can be so randomized that you might as well just wip out yaour pistol....

- DICE has not made any moves to reenable progession trough Portal and i would not be surprised if they just shelfed any notion to do so, you tought XP farms were bad, wait until the season pass drops and people rush trough it in one day trough bot farming.....

- with the dwindeling playerbase Protal looses its porpuse just as fast

@Stew360@Stew360#1 You're doing the same thing by demanding Specialists and the current form of "Battlefield" being the only new version available to the community. Pot meet kettle.

#2 Portal is an emaciated version of what they sold. The maps they chose were no where near the best in form and they know it. It did not live up to their "love letter" expectations and is underwhelming to say the least. It should also NOT be the scraps upon which the majority of their community feeds, that is the purpose of the main game.

#3 If they can do a server browser in Portal, they can do it in 2042. There was absolutely zero reason not to include it other than the game's original intent being a trend chase battle royale/hero shooter akin to Overwatch. Because of this hard shift after they panicked, EA/DICE did not have the resources to tackle the server browser issue and decided to see how the fans took to it. If the fans took umbrage, then they would look to "bring back legacy features" (great spin btw, touché Public Affairs).

#4 2042 is hardly superior to anything gaming wise, let alone any other game touting the "Battlefield" name.

#5 The XP debacle of Portal is entirely EA/DICE's fault. The community came up with solutions one day after they made the idiotic decision to take XP away and EA/DICE ignored it (probably out of pride). First and foremost, the XP farming did absolutely nothing negative to the gameplay of 2042 full stop. All it would mean is that some people (who for whatever godforsaken reason) would get the locked weapons a bit earlier. It would offer them minimal if anything in the way of in game advantage since the guns were completely bugged and broken to begin with (PP SMG was king for basically the first month) not to mention hit detection neutering all of the guns anyway. The only real reasons I can see why they took it away in the first place would be that they wanted to slow the player base from moving on from 2042 after they unlocked everything and realized how void of content it actually was, and/or drive people back to AoW from Portal because they weren't able to keep sustained 128 player numbers on a majority of their servers.

Based post. PORTAL was literally made in anticipation of the toxic playerbase hating on the next Battlefield (again). Big surprise that the players still hate it. /s

The game is lacking in many aspects compared to previous entries of the series. Now this things are sold to us as "legacy features" although they are pretty much standard for first person shooters out there (and the previos Battlefield parts). Moreover, they pretty much removed all their own identity that they have built over the years from 2042. That is not good and many people dislike it therefore. The current game does not remind me of a single thing that made me fall in love with the series back in the days. 

Also you claimed that all the hate/critizism was only artificially created by social media. While social media might have boosted that to some degree, people found this game to be bad by themselves. I personally disliked the beta already and therefore claimed a refund - I did not need a 3rd party to make my mind on the game. Since player counts also indicate (Steam player count) a decline of players it is also a hint that people do not enjoy it. I know many people who gave the game the benefit of a doubt and tried it out. Most of them are not playing it any more or only on rare occasions. 

Portal where no progress can be achieved and where a only a little bit of the content from the original games can be played was never going to save the game even tho the idea was good.

Unfortunately Portal is missing a few features for Conquest, and Rush which would make it a dream mode.

Currently you can select a map, select factions from different eras, disable individual vehicles, gadgets, weapons, classes and change certain gameplay options - ie revive, movement, health regen.

However you do not have access to the logic editor so you can't replace vehicle types with other vehicles, you can't have weapons, gadgets or vehicles from different eras for different factions (ie BF42 weapons for BF3 classes).

You can't replace or weapons / gadgets with other weapons / gadgets - ie setting up custom classes. 

So basically you can play BF3 vs BF3,  or BF3 vs BF42,  or BC2 vs BF42 and so on, or a version of one of these with less weapons, vehicles and gadgets but nothing where things can be replaced.

As a result there is a proliferation of TDM and FFA because these are the only modes which give access to the logic editor allowing you to set up things like gun game.

If there was proper access to the logic editor for Conquest, and Rush, or at least Conquest then there would be a lot more variation with what could be done.

I know the majority of players will probably continue to avoid portal unless the xp cap is removed, but I would play the hell out of it with bots getting 0xp if I could customise conquest with the logic editor.
