Hey everyone,
We'd like to hear your feedback on several gameplay elements now that Update 3.2 is available for play.
Today we'll start with Classes.
- What do you like?
- What do you dislike?
- Anything you'd like to see changed?
Drop your comments below.
One of the main draws of BF2042 for me was the lack of Classes. I never liked that aspect of any of the Battlefield games. I want to run the load-out that best suits me and the way that I play. When I can do that, I can in return better help my team. There are ways to balance the game without restricting access to most gadgets. I also never want to see the restriction of weapons tied to different Classes ever again. That was always a mistake in my opinion.
Prior to the 3.2 Patch, everything felt amazing. I don't like the new changes to movement (not strafe, but like momentum or whatever is making things feel more sluggish), I hate the added sway on some of the sights. The game felt snappier before this update. Tanks do feel more weighted now, although I haven't spent a ton of time with them, but they do feel different. That was definitely needed and the increased Turret speed was also needed for a very long time, that was a great change.
Speaking of Tanks, I welcome them being slower and more realistic. It makes sense from a balancing point of view too, but why not do the same with Air Vehicles? Seriously, I can't stress this enough, what is up with Dice's fascination with Air Vehicles and letting them dominate so aggressively for so long?!
Aircraft in BF2042 have a ton of maneuverability, unrealistically so, which allows them to survive with ease. The maps tend to cater to them, giving all sorts of ways to break line of sight. Now with the update, no locking on under 30 meters?! I'm tired of Transports surviving while taking tons of damage flying across the map, and then dropping off 10 people.
There's too many ways to get behind the front lines. The Transports having a ton of health, being repaired within, and then being a spawn point. Sundance being able to go wherever she pleases. Sundance's wing-suit should be removed from the game entirely, It's game breaking. I can spend 3 minutes painstakingly clearing out an objective, and then while I'm running to the next, she's flying back overhead. Sundance needs a complete rework.
Things I want to see changed:
- I don't want every match dictated by who has the most try-hard pilots on their team. I'm tired of people using the Nightbird as their personal infantry farming machine.
- Transports shouldn't be repairable from within
- The wing-suit has got to go
- For Dice to have a vision and stick to it. Stop chasing what you think people want. Stick to the Specialist system, improve performance (which you guys have already done a great job on!), add content, and always keep an eye on balancing and maybe shift the meta (slightly!) once in a while.
One of the biggest issues people had when the game launched was the performance. It was awful. It wasn't the lack of Classes, it was the performance. Then on top of that, there wasn't a ton of content, which I was okay with because we knew about seasons and future content drops, but it was a miss for a lot of people. There was also the HUGE issue with way too many overpowered vehicles on launch. Ground vehicles currently are near perfectly balanced for the most part. Missing scoreboard was another big thing. We’re still lacking ways of grouping up with more then four friends, no Platoons, and no squad management.
The launch was really rough and that's why people won't return. Even if the game was launched with bare-bones content, it still needs to feel good, run smoothly, and have some sort of balance.
