Weapon Handling realism.

I would like realistic gun play as point and click hit is so boring and unrealistic. I love Battlefields large maps , vehicles, AI and Conquest. I like more dead zone movement in the controller for all players instead of artificial bullet spread. Play would be balanced if everyone had the same dead zone in their controller. Pick up a real gun with two hands and see how it moves slightly in the hands. This realism is missing and when you fire single or multiple shots each weapon handles differently and with more abrupt recoil and loss of control. All of the accessories in the plus system should have a greater impact on mitigating this loss of control. Currently only the bi-pod seems to affect accuracy in a positive way. The others seem useless..There are some games out now that animate gunfire very well. I don't want to play those games for my reasons. Battlefield has it all for me but gunplay could improve.

Default guns should have the largest dead zones with accessories having differing positive affects of minimizing this dead zone movement.  If I hold the mouse crosshair over a target it should not be still. It should move with the heartbeat of the players avatar and be more when running . All this would add to the battlefield experience and lessen the COD boring that people who have shot a real weapon realize what if feels like and how it affects target acquisition
Real guns recoil, sway, and feel heavy. And the more you fire on full auto the less accurate you will be at distance..A real AK47 jumps like crazy on FA. Suppression of the target is the biggest reason for full auto fire and Machine guns. Firefights would be more tactical and the guns would hit where they are pointing not just with random artificial bullet spread.

Obviously video games will never reach the realism of real gun fire....Thats good because my hearing is mostly gone. Video games can however mimic the animations and sounds so that we can relive live fire without the ear piercing loudness.

I don't want DCS keystroke complexity but i do want guns that feel real when you click the mouse fire button. Hold a real rifle in the high ready or run with a rifle 20 yards in high ready , stop and engage a paper targer. Look at your rifle in your hands.. its probably not still. it has movement. This is the only spread that should be allowed in game .. I just want more realistic guns.....Handling.  I like the arcade simplicity of Battlefield and I believe with Portal this could be doable ..of Course the AI would have to have their accuracy spread out to be fair to real players.

  • You should check out Arma 3 or what ever version they are on.  Plus there are other more "realistic" games.
BF has never been a sim.
Saying that it is meant to be a game based on squad / team play and DICE have done their best to grind that into the ground.

@Ai-FluffyReally though the OP is just sharing what he wants. It may not be what you and I want (if I wanted a sim I’d find one) but it’s ok if he says it. It’s not like the devs have taken suggestions from the forums before. You need to be a Reddit thread or a streamer to get any traction. I’ve heard good things about Squad.

For me BF has been a mix between arcade and sim. Balanced enough to create a fastish paced game that had a sense of realism but also not so much that it negatively effected the overall pace, such as Squad, where it’s like running through mud.

so weapons wise, I’d settle for something that gives each weapon a character and behaviour akin to its real world counter part, I.e reflecting, range, accuracy, handling, power etc, as the main variables.

One thing I did notice is I didn’t like the current sound, and handling, all felt a bit too Arcady, perhaps it was the sound, poot poot poot, nah, was just naff.

@KnightFury68 I opened a empty server and tried all the different weapons and I'll tell you that they are much improved. The developers must have worked on the issue because the guns sound great with ballistic crack and echo from supersonic ammo and subsonic ammo sound differences. The unsuppressed sounds seem much punchier and the recoil seems heavier. I haven't heard any official changes made but the game is in a very good state and i have found myself saying cool and being very impressed at the effects and sounds etc. Thank you Dice / EA for the hard work and making this game so much better after ther launch.

@Ai-Fluffy I hate Arma 's learning curve and the time to set that game up. I spent hundreds of hours modding the sounds and splash effects from bullets to get them to a point where I liked it. Finally , this game 2042 has allowed me to play and not mod . I am having a blast with this game now because the devs kept working on it until it is very good.

Honestly , the moment you use full auto in most combat scenarios, the realism is thrown out of the window.

IRL Full auto is for suppressing and  close quarters emergencies. Not as the primary mode of fighting with.

    BF was never about realism.

Yet we have "realistic" mag capacities for guns that need many more bullets to get the job done than in reality

You really have to set up a portal server to get the realistic TTK of real weapons. Of course you give up all rights to weekly missions and Ribbon XP if you change anything that might make the game feel more realistic with lethality even if it is balanced per team.

I think Portal changes should not reduce Ribbons or weekly mission etc. if your changes are balanced for both teams and AI.

I have played a lot of BattleBit and that game has much better gun-play and damage/ttk is way more hardcore then 2042.

It would be nice with better gun-play (higher damage etc), but the game is not suited for that.

It would need better maps (way more cover) and the specialist system is also a problem in getting the game more 'tactical', they are not made that kind of gameplay.

But if they could get the gun-play to be a mix of BFVs recoil/spread and BF4s tapfire-system, that would be a big improvement.
