Welp - I'm out

Change the 4k player count remaining on steam to 3,999 - your friend Moist has had enough.

  1. Fiancee got me the mega * version for 100$.  Not even sure what extra content if anything that got me.
  2. Game launches in an abhorrent state (this is a list of its own, cant include it here - all the problems, you know them)
  3. Cant find games without crossplay
  4. Turn crossplay on, can find games against consoles
  5. can find games for a while - play one round before C5 drone becomes boring to deal with, empty maps bore me out of my own skeleton, etc, hear angel say dont be sad at the end.
  6. now games even with crossplay take 10m to find
  7. No server browser to mitigate that
  8. The santa suit (while not released) did show what they were trying to do, destroy what has already been destroyed.
  9. Steam mods closing any negative, constructive, or even neutral threads
  10. That clown who tweeted "unreasonable expectations" or whatever, that really showed what team is working on this.  Who comes off a MONTH long break with THAT attitude?  I'd be on cloud nine.  They probably need to remove that guy from his position but that's company business.
  11. 2042 reddit threatens to shut down, blaming the players instead of the imposter game labeled "Battlefield"
  12. More people playing BF5, fall guys, etc
  13. No reason to sign on, no achievements, ribbons, stats, sense of community, hazard zone requiring teamwork with no voip
  14. Bought CoD, one of the most tired worn out franchises in history, and I'm enjoying it (1 day in) more than I enjoyed 3 weeks of this.  I even pressed "TAB" and saw my score mid game, finally, the common respect from a company to not call a basic feature "legacy"
  15. EA/Dice instead of giving a roadmap, tweets about "remember - capture the points in conquest"
  16. It is now 2 months after release, 1/6 of a year, and I've not heard about any of the battlepass, or content I was gifted the 100$ version for.  Why does season ONE, aka - the beginning, start 5 months after release?  You do know the attention span for video games unless they are absolutely addictive KILLER of a game(s), is shorter than that right?  Who will we play the battlepass against, AI?

There are now 14,000 people playing BF5 on steam, and 4k people playing 2042.  You gave me a car with no engine.  Fix it or apologise.  Until then I'm done with your franchise and quite frankly your garbage attitudes.

    EA has a long history of spreading itself across the game industry, gorging itself on smaller companies, like some angry binging octopus. Most of those companies were bought up because they had developed a successful game series, with a strong loyal fanbase. Once EA is at the helm, changes are made to the series, in efforts to appeal to "broader audiences". This results in bad sales, which often results in EA closing the company that they bought and then sitting on the IP, preventing anyone else from continuing the series.

    This pissed off all fans of said studios/game series and has given EA a reputation of being money making grubholders that destroy smaller successful companies and stifle creativity in an otherwise creative business.

    Examples of game studios that were bought up and some of them closed by EA (and list of famous games made by them):

    Bullfrog Productions - Known for Populous, Theme Park, Theme Hospital, Syndicate Wars and Dungeon Keeper.
    Origin Systems - Known for Wing Commander and the Ultima series.
    Westwood Studios - Known for the Command & Conquer series.
    Maxis - Known for SimCity and The Sims.
    Pandemic Studios - Known for StarWars Battlefront.

    And offcourse…

    DICE - Known for the Battlefield series.

    And this is exactly what is happening now with our beloved franchise battlefield. 2042 is the low point of the series!

    This is what makes EA the grinch of gaming…

    @cornybbq2 I would also add the Nascar Racing Series games from Papyrus to your list, a long running racing-sim series (1994-2003) that EA purchased then killed off once it bought them out and made it into a cartoony Mario-Kart version.

    I purchased the game after not one but two discounts. I played for 2 evenings forcing myself into thinking that I`m on the bright side of the future, being a "good guy". I came back to BF2, BF4, and 1. BF2042 is not bad as a game, but a terrible game as Battlefield.

    My mates resigned after one of them experienced between 20-42 FPS, another lost his patience after a realization that there are no unlocks of weapon attachments in PORTAL, another has sunk under textures in a tank on the bridge... quick alt+F4. My problem with poorly designed Lobby aka no Squad Management has been solved at that point - I don`t have anyone to play with so the next attempt is in April.

    Give Battlefield 1 a go, I've been playing that recently and it's a masterpiece.

    I come back to the 2042 forums ect to see if there is a glimmer of hope but sadly nothing, comparing them both I believe 2042 would need a whole relaunch that just won't happen. 

    Fingers crossed they don't keep specialists as the new standard for Battlefield, because if they do myself and many others I presume would just give up altogether.

    @AJ_ClickzI'm back on BFV currently but will also get back on BF1 as well, they are both Worlds better than 2042 in every single way, features, graphics, gameplay, you name it. As soon as a I played 2042 I knew it was beyond fixing with a few updates and patches so I bailed pretty early on, I have 70hrs I believe and most of those were just playing for the sake of it with mates but you could tell from the get go that the game can't be fixed. If you play 2042 back to back with either BFV or BF1 you instantly realize exactly how bad 2042 is.

    @cornybbq2 another great studio which was shut down years ago is BlackBox. They made those Need for Speed games that are still loved to this day like Underground, Most Wanted (the good one from 2005), etc. Nowadays Need for Speed is pretty much a dead franchise with some game releases every now and then. But the games are pretty much launched just to be forgotten within no time at all.

    This, and I have said it a couple of times already will also happen to Battlefield. The best days of this franchise are long gone and it merely exists because the brand value is still too high to let it die. Too many players still buy these games in anticipation of reliving what they fell in love with years ago. But those times are gone and they will most likely never return. So may great EA franchises that have endend up into meaninglessness.

    Yeah I just did that, had a round of BF1 and moved onto 2042.

    BF1 feels like a Battlefield, 2042 feels like an oversized Call of Duty.

    @NarrowSpeedo It boggles my mind why a ‘gaming’ company would be so toxic and destructive towards its own marked… wouldn’t there be more money to be made if you keep you’re successfull franchises alive and healthy? Or am i just completely wrong about this…
