Good helicopter pilots can and do wreak havoc on infantry. It has always been the case in BF games but somehow worse in BF2042. Air to air dogfights seem a thing of the past.
- ATFGunr3 years agoLegend@HamletEagle The recent health nerf clearly has fallen short of the goal, so the Hind continues to be a flying tank death machine. Your spawn in this case is obviously bad lol, 2042 has a bad habit of bad spawns as we know. As increasing rocket damage didn’t tame the bloody thing, the next move had to be more weapon nerfs. The easiest one is the nose gun becomes only a smoke launcher. Does the real one have a bad * cannon? Yes. This is a video game and you can take poetic license.
- FarystarLovesBF13 years agoNew Veteran@ATFGunr As much as i can also wreak havoc with my team in Superhind and can be fun, it can totally unbalance the entire enemy team and that is surely not fun. Most of the times we can easly outrepair the incoming damage.
At least 3 or 4 matches today were won, beacuse of hind absolutely destroying everything.
Just being honest. ATF gunner has a solid point here. Problems with vehicle balance.
Even if DICE makes some changes to 'fix it', they wont solve it. Amazing company.
Battlefield games always were problematic with the air to ground balance-meta. For example BF4 mobile AA was far better at farming infantry ánd avoiding any AT rockets than tanks, plus the scout heli miniguns could accurately wreck everything out of stinger range on PC if the pilot was a sweat. But I've never seen it as skewed as in this game.
This flying tank mechanic with incessant flarepooping needs to go.

Decrease damage from projectiles back to what it was one week ago, REMOVE! all guns except the miniguns. Problem solved!

is far and wide the most handholding game in the franchise concerning flying.
Transport helis have had more HP then tanks, insane weaponry and the ability to be self-repairing if a passenger choose to (teamplay makes these things actually unkillable) and only after the most recent "nerf" is there a need for pilots to use a braincell regarding these.
same goes for the MAV, literally the scariest vehicle on the ground that can * up anything and everything it sees - RAF20423 years agoNew Ace@HamletEagle Haha! What mode was this? There was no time to figure it out.
Anyway, the Hind is still running strong despite the welcomed 20% damage nerf. It's attack power is still excessive for a TRANSPORT (LOL) vehicle. - FarystarLovesBF13 years agoNew Veteran@A-RAF2019 Most defently is. And then you go into the useless attack helis most of the time, because of their slower movement and short lock on range which is funny and bot even renotely close to what IRL range is.
I just came back from a big break to try out 2042 again, noticed the same issues as before i left.
The problem with choppers and air in general in regards to inf is there is little in the way of good high skill gadgets, there is:
Lock-on: which they have to nerf because having so many inf using them would make it impossible to fly
The guided rocket: range so low and speed so slow that choppers can just fly away from them
Free launched: Seems to go slower than in previous games
All rockets suffer from extreme low fov zoom, i'm not sure why dice think we need to zoom in to see vehicles but they don't seem to realise that weapons like the guided and free launched rockets need more fov not less, because you need to use the vehicles trajectory to see where you need to aim. To get the correct aim point you need to see where the vehicle is heading WHILE aiming ahead which you can't do while zoomed.
Choppers also seem to have a lot less momentum in this game letting them turn on a dime, note that momentum and turn speed are different in choppers since a chopper can turn while having momentum carrying them in their previous direction...in this game thats less of a thing than previous and i can tell you as a inf player that always loved going anti vehicle that lag between turn time and momentum correction is the money shot for rockets vs heli's.
To sum up, remove the amount of zoom on rockets, or add a secondary level of scoped but not zoomed in.
Speed up the rockets slightly...maybe 10%
Increase the time alive of the guided/free launched rockets
Give choppers more momentum.
Not all balancing needs to be about damage.
- Trokey663 years agoSeasoned Ace@HamletEagle I think the main issue is that flares provide far to much protection for too long.
Reduce that time and a lot of issues could be resolved without constant tweaking of damage, health and repair rates etc.
