What will happen for DICE after developing Battlefield 2042?
Will DICE make a Battlefront III or come back to Battlefront II or they will instead dedicate their time for Battlefield 2042 DLC?

We've had enough past and current time games in the series for the time being (imo), I wouldn't mind a return to the future setting for the next game.
And who doesn't like bipedal mechs, hover tanks, and titan mode? - @Fringerunner I am with you. Lead the way to glory.

Realistically, they'll probably take some short vacations then begin work on the next BF version, since it does take considerable time to put a game together. And with all of the issues and delays that went down with this one, they may take a little extra time to be sure to work the kinks out, with time to spare.
- @Player55 they will definitely not come back for battlefront 2 thats for sure. Would be awesome if they worked on the third one, theres a huge gap in star wars games right now so i'm sure it would sell like crazy
I definately can not see BF going back to WW1 & WW2 for the next couple of installments at least...
So lets see... I definatly think Dice is going to concentrate on BF2042 for sure the next 2 years...
What can we expect in this timeframe?
Maybe 2-3 multiplayer maps?
1 new operator for each season? Thats 8 new operators the next two years.
The dark horse here really is portal as this is the sandbox-experience many veterans are asking for. Good thing is Dice doesnt need to re-invent the wheel for Portal as they are well-aware about which maps, guns, etc. needs to be added.
I have no clue how much content is going to be released for Portal as this seems as a stand-alone experiance from BF2042...
My guess: Ppl will be highly dissatisfied with balance in Portal and after the initial hype has died we are gonna see mostly "WW2-only server" "BadCompany2 only servers" and so on...
But looking forward to the next installment I definately can see BF going to pick up on the 2142-theme OR maybe going backwards to a Vietnam-setting...
@bumbleblast111, I don't think that DICE will make a Battlefront III neither as they don't have enough time to make the third Battlefront game before the contract expires in 2023 and besides, Battlefront II is lacking content so much that it needs to be used with mods to have fun, especially the instant action overhaul. Also, EA might find a way to destroy the game before it launches and it will be a miss again like the two precedented Battlefront games so no, I don't think and unfortunately, I'm not in a favor of a Battlefront III game for the time being...
Maybe if 2025 if an another company with passion and ambition will make the third one, one that is unique and even better than Pandemic and EA's Battlefronts but until then, Il 'just keep playing Battlefront II offline with mods...
Seems very likely they will either make a new Battlefield series in the Vietnam era, or finally make Desert Combat 2. Nothing else I can imagine.
- @bumbleblast111 I would be very happy to see a new Star Wars Battlefront game, personally. Just clean up the multiplayer mechanics, go easy on the microtransaction stuff, and balance a few things. TTK needs some work, too.
