Where is the Levolution in BF2042?

In previous Battlefields we always had amazing levolutions.

My bones always shattered as soon as the skyscraper, chimneys, Hotels, dams, satelites, bridges, etc.... colapsed, a tsunami blew across the islands, .....and many more

In Battlefield 2042 all levolutions still feel so uninpactful and simply unsatisfying....there's more levolution when you accidentally take away the wrong block in Minecraft.

Don't get me wrong, with all the updates BF2042 is on a very good way but it's still a way worser version of it's predecessors.

Where's the destruction & levolution you showed us in all the tech demos before release?

I hope that we'll get real levolution and more impactful destructions for every map in future updates.

Almost all old BF-mechanics were dropped in 2042 and Dice have stumbled trying to make this into a BF-game again.

But levolution was only in BF4 (perhaps a little in BF3), it wasn't really a thing in the BF-franchise in general.

I think the game has a lot of fundamental issues (no server-browser, no squad-tools, bad spawning, bad netcode, bad vehicle-design etc etc) and Dice has much more pressing issues than putting levolution in the game...

  • @CroDanZ  I Feel the same, and have since day one. It's disappointing, but it seems a lot of people are not really bothered, and Dice / EA would rather focus on those weird Tornados than real damage that can change the whole look and feel of a map.

@cso7777  I remember we used to be able to destroy whole buildings, in fact in the Atacama Desert map for example you could bring the whole building down on the tent camping snipers for example, and other destruction was possible too.

Oh, and unlike in BF2042 you could shoot between trees too.

Last night playing Portal and in the Battle Of The Bulge I found myself in between two trees trying with a SMG to shoot an enemy, but no luck, I had to move from crouching in between two trees to the left of them in order to be able to actually hit the enemy !

I was in a BF3 match last night, I forget the map name, but one random building was hiding enemy and so the team destroyed the building, little by little until it was a shell.  I miss that destruction and it fits in the game because after that, the building was no longer used and it was an important tactical asset as it sat on the flank of 2 caps.  Destroying it forced the enemy to advance up the middle to the caps.

So, a definite case can be made to bring back destruction to make the game play better, not just for eye candy.

I wish DICE would focus less on skins, rewards, challenges, etc and focus more on core game play and get back to basics for a change.

I feel they "DICE/EA had a decision to make ether destruction OR 128 players. A mute call since we are being forced to 64 players now.

    Bad call I guess.

@skates15Destruction is sorely missed on the new maps. But some of this is because of the objects used on the maps, ships, containers etc. These things would probably not be destructible even in older BF-games.

2042 is not a BF-game at its core and this is very apparent on the 2042 maps.

Portal maps are fine, they are working more or less as they did in earlier games (BC2/BF3).

  • @CroDanZ No we never!

We had levolution in one game, BF4.

    And now we have:

Tornadoes that rip up trees, bushes, fences etc and destroy small buildings.

We have an exploding rocket on Orbital which changes the map around the flag.

We have giant Oil containers in Breakaway that explode and look amazing.

Spearhead cube exterior walls are destroyable and players can grapple into them (but not gain access to the inside except around the air vents.

Discarded has various giant ship parts that can be moved.

Then we have an insane amount of micro destruction on every single map and plenty of walls on buildings that are destructible.

2042 having a lack of destruction is yet another fake narrative surrounding the game.

lol random storms that add nothing and often skew a game in one favour.
Orbit rocket is meaningless as are the rest.
    The engine can't cope.
It struggles at times with 128.
BF2042 is by far the sorriest excuse of a bf game out of the whole franchise.

  • @sk1lld Seems so....128 player games are simply a mess, rather would go back to 64 player but way more lefvolution & destructions. 🙂
  • Levolution was confined to BF4 as it's selling gimmick and has not been in any previous or subsequent battlefield title.  If you mean destruction DICE has been trying to find the sweet spot in destruction since they first introduced battlefield flattening destruction in BC2, then they dialed it back in BF3, increased it more in BF4, basically returned to flattening the map in BF1/V and now we're back at BF3 levels of destruction. I suspect dialing back the level of destruction was necessary due to the asset budget restriction that came with accommodating 128 players similar to how vehicles are now called in instead of having vehicles sitting on flags.
