The Battlefield Franchise (before it lost it's way) was all about "did your TEAM win the match?"
It wasn't about how good your solo Kill:Death ratio was.
It wasn't about how many of the gadgets and vehicles you unlocked.
It certainly wasn't about how many super cool skins and cosmetics you managed to pick up.
It was about strategic and tactical team-based combat.
It was good while it lasted.
It's a shame the current team doesn't actually know what made this game so popular in the first place. Guess they all grew up playing Fortnite.

- 3 years ago@Kaptyn027 Not sure what BF games you have been playing? But BF has always been about rank, weapon unlocks, stats, ribbons, and badges ever since BF2.

@Kaptyn027 so, you only played Battlefield 1942 and Battlefield Vietnam? 😉
because Since BF2 you have Ranks, unlocks and even stats^^
you can still find them online, there is an bad example of my old stats if BF2 ^^:
Even in BF2 I still missing 2 weapons ^^ (Made some bad decision which I unlocked first^^)Also, the unlock grind in BF3/BF4 was much more excessive, I still have many things open in those both games and BF1 and BF V has also not convinced me to go the hard grind
Here in BF2042 most of the things are much more accessible for more players and in the end we all ending up using our favourites over and over again
The difference this time is, that we are lucky that all specialist can use every weapon so everyone can play the way they want
So, stats are long time a Part of the BF Franchise some are more into it some are not. The different skins\camos came up with BF3/BF4 so also nothing new to the franchise.
Now there a skins which is only another name for different camo....
The rest is the ego and missing teamplay but this where always a problem of multiplayer games ^^
For me personal a win of the round is also more important than my stats, because I know you need not to be a killer to be in the top ten.
Good support and Teamplay is half the way to the win rest skill (also called luck that becomes a habit 😉 )

In b4BSV nerf (we all know this one is coming, it is inevitable).
- spudbug3 years agoSeasoned Ace@Kaptyn027 The game can be about different things for different people and it's ok. You don't have to be a downer about it.

Kap.Different time. Different goals. Different playerbase.
Those hardcore teambased folks migrated to arma and insurgency. To every their own. I'm also getting mad when ppl in conquest playing TDM and completelly abandon any other objective (and capping everything solo is just not feasible). But most find fun in that so I can't blame them for that. They all play for their fun as I play for mine and that "fun" doesn't always match.

My impression is, that many team based folks did NOT migrated to ARMA or Insurgency or Squad, after the release of BF1 and BFV. I guess we speak about the "modern era" shooter crowd.
Many people tried out different games, and many of them returned to BF4 and BF3 in the hope, that DICE would bring a new modern or near future shooter. And DICE did NOT deliver with BF2042.
Playing Conquest with Hazard Zone heros on Hazard Zone maps is not a recipe for good matches.
The skins for the specialists are designed for a different target audience, which gets their kicks in usually free to play titles.- NazT553 years agoSeasoned Ace
Got Falck T1 over the weekend. Working on K30 now and I guess maybe Angel for my next specialist to T1.

Kap.I generally agree with this feeling. I'd love it if progress towards achievements only counts if your team wins.
It's a team game, yet it feels that personal goals/progression are overtaking team goals. It's contrary to what society tells us what it means to be part of a team or what it means to be a good teammate.
It's an interesting discussion. How many people would trade a win for a Battle Pass tier?
We signed up to play a team game - shouldn't that obligate us to prioritize team goals over personal goals? But we are also here for entertainment - not as a job or chore - shouldn't that also allow us to play in a way which maximizes our personal entertainment and to hell with the rest?
- CloverDeuce3 years agoSeasoned Ace@AngrySquid270 Sorta agree, but what if you get stuck with a team that is sucking it up? Or stuck as defender on BT 8 times in a row (which happens often)? Or you get the squad with the guy who wants to camp in a corner and snipe all game, while the other just wants to fly heli and jets and not directly helping you cap a flag? I definitely agree there should be more objective based challenges, but they should also reflect on the players personal effort to achieve them..
